Job Description
3 Month Contract with a Local Authority.
Job Purpose
- To operate refuse collection vehicles safely and efficiently ensuring timely and effective waste collection services for residential and commercial areas. The role supports the local authority s commitment to maintaining clean and sustainable communities.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Drive and operate refuse collection vehicles in accordance with legal and safety standards.
- Collect household recycling and commercial waste from designated routes.
- Assist loaders when necessary including manual handling of waste containers.
- Complete daily vehicle checks and report any defects or issues promptly.
- Ensure accurate completion of route sheets and other documentation.
- Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors.
- Maintain a professional and courteous manner when interacting with the public.
- Adhere to health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.
- Support additional waste management tasks as required including bulky waste collection and special events.
Essential Experience Required
- Previous experience driving large vehicles preferably in waste management or logistics.
- Good understanding of health and safety practices.
Additional information to note
- Full UK Driving license is required for this role.
