Job Description

BryceTech is seeking an experienced Research Specialist III to support our client the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)) at the Department of Defense. This role requires strong expertise in strategic communications data analysis and defense acquisition processes with a demonstrated ability to manage high-complexity projects and deliver actionable insights. The ideal candidate will possess excellent research writing and presentation skills to inform senior leadership decision-making in a fast-paced environment.

Customer Background Information: The Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment (OUSD(A&S)) serves as the principal advisor to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense on all matters related to acquisition sustainment logistics industrial policy and defense procurement across the Department of Defense (DoD). OUSD(A&S) is responsible for developing implementing and overseeing policies that enable the delivery of defense capabilities effectively efficiently and affordably in support of national security objectives.

OUSD(A&S) leads initiatives to modernize acquisition processes strengthen the defense industrial base promote innovation and ensure the lifecycle sustainment of military systems. The office also provides oversight of key areas including supply chain resilience operational energy environmental and safety compliance and materiel readiness to maintain military effectiveness and global competitiveness.

Minimum Knowledge and Description of the work:

  • Collect and analyze data from a wide range of sources (e.g. technical reports field data policy documents) to inform decision-making processes related to defense acquisition and sustainment.
  • Identify emerging technologies systems and operational trends that may impact acquisition strategies lifecycle management and defense capabilities.
  • Conduct or support technical reviews assessments and evaluations of new and existing defense systems technologies and processes to determine readiness effectiveness and applicability.
  • Compiles data from multiple sources for evaluation and analysis
  • Assist in developing policies and strategies that guide the acquisition sustainment and management of defense systems and capabilities.
  • Provide input on defense programs and projects through research into program requirements potential risks and technological feasibility.
  • Contribute to long-term strategic planning efforts for defense acquisition and sustainment.
  • Support cost-effectiveness analyses risk management strategies and feasibility assessments for defense programs.
  • Prepare comprehensive reports white papers and presentations summarizing research findings and policy recommendations.
  • Present findings to senior leadership stakeholders and working groups.
  • Collaborate with other departments (including acquisition logistics and engineering teams) to align research findings with operational needs.
  • Assists in the development improvement and implementation of research methodologies and procedures

Qualifications :

  • BA/BS degree from an accredited college or university
  • Candidates MUST possess an ACTIVE TS/SCI or Secret security clearances.
  • Minimum five (5) years of specialized experience in strategic communications within the Department of Defense or other federal agencies.
  • Executive-level support experience working with senior leadership.
  • Experience leading and providing technical guidance across multiple high-complexity projects.
  • Proven ability to manage customer expectations and work directly with executive-level customers.
  • Outstanding customer service abilities with demonstrated initiative sound judgment creativity flexibility and confidence.
  • Ability to multi-task and manage priorities across multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent written oral and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills with attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to present complex information effectively to senior leadership.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in dynamic environments.
  • Familiarity with defense acquisition policies systems engineering logistics and sustainment frameworks.

Educational Requirements: BA/BS from an accredited college or university

Experience Requirements: Minimum five (5) years of relative experience

Clearance Requirement: Candidates MUST possess an ACTIVE TS/SCI or Secret security clearances.


Additional Information :

Must posses Active TS/SCI or Secret security clearance.

This position is subject to contract award.
