Job Title: Senior Vice President Distribution
Reports to: Executive Vice President Distribution
The Senior Vice President Distribution will structure pitch and negotiate multi-territory and/or global deals with SPTs key global clients including Netflix Amazon Disney Apple and others as well as serve as a key liaison to the global salesforce on all deals with multi-territory or global implications. As one of the senior global dealmakers at SPT this person will coordinate amongst the various salespeople and sales planners in all the field offices and headquarters to ensure SPT is optimizing across all windows and media to secure the maximum revenue for its catalog of current and library TV series and feature films. The person in this role will serve on the front lines negotiating the studios largest and most complex deals (SVOD Pay and other media) directly with SPTs largest clients whose business with the studio spans the globe. This person will also serve as one of the key strategic advisers to all of SPTs salesforce providing managerial support and ensuring best practices on the strategy structuring and negotiation of deals with clients across the globe. The person in this role will also help formulate and execute a multi-faceted holistic strategy to grow the studios business with increasingly important clients such as YouTube Samsung LG and other virtual MVPDs and TV OEMs.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Deal Negotiation and Management: Serving as one of the key front-line negotiators on many of the biggest revenue generating and most complex deals for the studio with SPTs most important clients (Netflix Amazon etc.); will manage the entire deal-making process from start to end in close coordination with the global sales force Sales Planning Marketing WPF Legal and Finance.
- Strategy: Developing and executing on a strategic plan for the licensing of all of Sonys key TV and feature film assets across the globe; proactively innovating across all media types and business models; formulating and executing a holistic strategy focused on some of the most important new clients of the studio the virtual MVPDs and TV OEMs across FAST SVOD and AVOD channels and content licensing; working with sales teams to assess best means to optimize market potential across all windows and then overseeing the execution of that strategy
- Client Relationships: Maintaining and nurturing exceptionally strong relationships while advocating on behalf of SPT with SPTs key clients and partners around the world at the most senior levels
- Sony Relationships: Setting the tone for strong and collegial relationships across the studio as one of the key senior distribution executives at SPT globally; managing relationships within Sony Pictures Television (Sales Sales Planning Marketing Home Entertainment etc.) across other divisions at Sony Pictures Entertainment (Theatrical TV Development and Production Finance Legal WPF etc.) and with other Sony Corp. entities including Music Electronics PlayStation etc.
- Budget Setting: Preparing annual sales budgets; providing sales estimates and projections on distribution deals and ensuring such projections are met or exceeded
- Leadership: Serving as a role model to the salesforce around the world and the rest of the organization; always looking to drive motivate and inspire the long-term growth of people and the business
- Advisory Role: Serving as one of the key advisors for the SPT salesforce around the world on key deals across all media; offering guidance and strategic direction on all aspects of the deals setting global standards and ensuring they are met across the board
- Meeting Sales Goals and Promoting New Business Opportunities: Achieving and exceeding annual sales budgets focusing on growth targets and established strategies for SPT. Continuously work towards generating incremental sales and revenue opportunities and guiding the salesforce around the world to do the same
Requirements:
The individual must have and/or demonstrate:
- 12 years in senior media sales and management role
- Extensive experience structuring and negotiating complex content distribution deals
- Experience managing a team of employees and guiding them toward business and personal growth and achievement
- Impeccable leadership skills
- Superior sales negotiation and problem-solving skills
- Entrepreneurial spirit and attitude professional courage initiative and innovation
- Results-driven with strong customer focus and relationship management
- Ability to travel regularly both domestically and overseas
- Excellent communication (verbal/written) skills
- Unquestionable integrity
- Bachelors degree MBA preferred
The anticipated base salary for this position is $282404.00 - $367125.00 - $440550.00. This role may also qualify for annual incentive and/or comprehensive benefits. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors including without limitation the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position years of relevant experience level of education attained certifications or other professional licenses held and if applicable the location of the position.
