Under the general direction of the Physical Plant Supervisor this position is responsible for maintaining State owned facilities which include physical structuresmechanical electrical systems and utilities. Also responsible for obtaining purchase orders and maintaining required documentation for purchased supplies and materials. Working knowledge of building system codes OSHA requirements and knowledge of safe working techniques and procedures is required. Will work independently with limited supervision and will communicate with customers stakeholders and vendors utilizing time management and interpersonal skills. On occasion may be asked to take the lead training subordinates and must be able to accommodate occasional after-hour emergencies. This position will also operate as site coordinator managing communications with janitorial vendors establishing communications for repairs maintenance and upgrades serving as the liaison between housed employees Facilities Management and vendors.
Maintain and repair physical buildings and structures; HVAC electrical and water systems; and operate associated equipment.

Diagnose repair issues. Research best solutions for making repairs and oversee contractor-based projects.
Preventative maintenance and building inspection; filters lights flooring and plumbing fixtures.
Receive and document work utilizing electronic service work orders (TRIRIGA). Meet MAP competencies. Document P-Card purchases; maintain shop and vehicle appropriately.
Purchase materials and tools to make necessary repairs. Inspect on-going work and determine if a work stoppage is required.
Maintain power tools. Maintain required training. Interpret blueprints and schematics when required.
Other duties as assigned as related to the position.
Knowledge:
Broad knowledge of building maintenance and the construction trades.
Knowledge of applicable State and Federal building codes; building and construction trades best practices.
Demonstrable knowledge of safety rules regulations codes and laws.
Skill:
Use of common and specialized tools equipment and materials related to assigned project; reading blueprints sketches and structural components of buildings and related utility services systems; all applicable building code; building and construction best practices.
Skill estimating and ordering project materials.
Ability:
Develop and maintain good business relationships with customers vendors and other stakeholders; work independently and sometimes take the oversight lead as a project or vendor requires utilizing excellent customer service.
One-year experience equivalent to a Building Maintenance Technician.
This position requires driving or the use of a vehicle as an essential function of the job and the following requirements apply. Any employee operating a motor vehicle on State business must possess and retain a current valid class-appropriate drivers license complete all required training and successfully pass all necessary drivers license record checks. The license must be current unexpired and neither revoked nor suspended. Employees who drive on state business are subject to drivers license record checks must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete all required driver training. An employee who operates a personally owned vehicle on state business shall maintain the statutorily required liability insurance (see Arizona Administrative Code (A.A.C.) R.11).
Employment contingent upon passing a physical examination.
