Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Business Development Manager to drive growth in the logistics and supply chain sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in logistics sales client acquisition and market expansion with a proven ability to build relationships with shippers manufacturers and freight partners.
Key Responsibilities
1. Business Growth & Client Acquisition
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities in freight forwarding (air sea and road) warehousing 3PL and last-mile delivery.
- Develop and implement strategic sales plans to expand the companys client base in key industries (e.g. retail manufacturing and e-commerce).
- Conduct market research to identify trends competitor strategies and untapped opportunities in Kenya/East Africa.
2. Client Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients logistics partners and stakeholders.
- Negotiate contracts pricing and service agreements to maximize profitability.
- Provide customized logistics solutions to meet client needs (e.g. cold chain cross-border express cargo).
3. Revenue Generation & Sales Strategy
- Achieve and exceed monthly/quarterly sales targets.
- Prepare proposals presentations and tenders for corporate clients.
- Collaborate with operations teams to ensure seamless service delivery and customer satisfaction.
4. Market Expansion & Partnerships
- Explore partnerships with shipping lines airlines trucking companies and customs brokers.
- Represent the company at industry events trade shows and networking forums.
- Develop strategies to penetrate emerging markets (e.g. intra-Africa trade under AfCFTA).
Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelors degree in Business Logistics Supply Chain or a related field.
- 3 years in business development sales or account management in logistics freight or transport.
- Proven track record of meeting/exceeding sales targets and growing a client portfolio.
- Strong understanding of logistics operations (customs clearance cargo tracking fleet management).
- Excellent negotiation communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in CRM tools (e.g. Salesforce) and Microsoft Office.
