Job Description

The Department of Community and Behavioral Health is recruiting acandidate for a 50% positionto provide developmental and administrative coordination for program activities within the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Public Health Catalyst Program. To advise students and faculty on matters associated with the MCH Public Health Catalyst Program. To coordinate and administer student affairs relating to the recruitment curriculum development student certificate progression program planning and alumni communication and engagement. To maintain and help coordinate the MCH Student Interest Group. To promote and manage faculty development opportunities in MCH. To enhance partnerships with state and local public health Title V agencies and community partners with attention to organizations serving rural communities. To provide information and reports for training grants educational support funding and university and external reporting on programs.

Academic Program Operational Support and Management:

Coordinate and support the daily operational activities associated with the MCH Public Health Catalyst Program.

Coordinate and conduct student enrollment activities for the MCH certificate (e.g. assigning advisors ensuring registration for appropriate courses).

Assist with and coordinate student activities related to the MCH curriculum the MCH

scholars program and student professional development awards.

Promote and manage faculty development opportunities in MCH.

Assist with enhancing partnerships with state and local public health Title V agencies and community partners with attention to organizations serving rural communities.

Assist with and coordinate the Advisory Committee for the MCH Public Health Catalyst Program.

Assist with and coordinate administrative paperwork for the projects associated with the MCH Public Health Catalyst Program.

Assist with project evaluation data collection and federal reporting.

Schedule and organize program related meetings and events.

Provide support for the Director such as assisting with budget preparation; preparing periodic reports; and other administrative duties as requested.

Leadership:

Provide functional and/or administrative supervision for students.

Facilitate positive relations between the program team partners other departments within the University and all other involved individuals.

Serve as a primary contact for MCH certificate students.

Coordinate and advise the MCH Student Interest Group including coordinating events and contacting speakers.

Financial Responsibility:

Initiate purchasing requests for meeting and events.

Monitor event/promotion expenditures.

Advise the Director on budgetary needs or discrepancies.

Strategic Planning:

Assist in the overall growth and implementation of the MCH Public Health Catalyst Program.

Develop and implement student recruitment and retention strategies.

Assist in developing sustainability plans to maintain grow and enhance the MCH Public Health Catalyst Program.

Communications Management:

Communicate with UI units to assure compliance adherence to policies status tracking and direct communications with sponsors and other entities.

Correspond with contracting officer/officials at NCI NIH and other institutions.

Communicate with agencies to exchange project specific information or obtain clarification for compliance.

Participate in the negotiation of budgets.

Required Qualification:

Bachelors degree and a minimum of 1 year of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Proficiency in computer software applications such as Microsoft Office (ex. Word Outlook PowerPoint Excel Zoom and social media).

Demonstrated ability to work under pressure prioritize tasks multitask be detail oriented and meet tight deadlines.

Demonstrated ability to interact positively with a varied population.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational skills as well as attention to detail.

Ability to travel to recruitment events and educational conferences including valid US driving license and ability to meet the University of Iowa Fleet Safety Program driving standard.

Desirable Qualifications:

Masters degree in Public Health with a focus on maternal and child health

Experience with administrative or academic program policies and procedures.

Previous experience in program and/or project management.

Some knowledge of University practices rules and regulations.

Position and Application Details:

This position is eligible for hybrid work within Iowa and will require a work arrangement form to be completed upon the start of your employment. Per policy work arrangements will be reviewed annually and must comply with theremote work program and related policies and employee travel policy when working at a remote location.
