Job Duties

The Virginia Department of Juvenile Justice (DJJ) protects the public by preparing court-involved youth to be successful citizens. DJJ is committed to excellence in public safety by providing effective interventions that improve the lives of youth strengthening both families and communities within the Commonwealth.

We are hiring for a Residential Admin Specialist to oversee population management functions including classification intake placement coordination and monitoring of treatment progress for youth in direct care. Serve as Chair of the Centralized Case Review Committee (CCRC) facilitating the special decision process and supporting timely well-informed case resolutions. Facilitate communication and alignment between JCCs CPPs and the CAP Unit to ensure optimal utilization of resources and effective youth transitions.

The work schedule will be Monday - Friday 8am - 5pm.

Core Responsibilities (not limited to):

  • Population & Case Management Oversight - Leads population management efforts across DJJ facilities in collaboration with the CAP Unit Manager by monitoring resident populations and analyzing data to guide decision-making.
  • Provide Administrative Support and performs other duties as assigned - Oversees direct care youth to ensure continuity in treatment education and programming throughout the case management process.
  • General Juvenile Record/BADGE Duties - Promptly and accurately document BADGE and other juvenile information in accordance with DJJ policy and procedure
  • Cross-Functional Leadership & Projects - Serves on workgroups and committees as needed including active participation on the SOP Workgroup. Leads and supports special projects including cross-functional initiatives and project management responsibilities

Minimum Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of juvenile justice programs case management practices classification systems and continuum of care.
  • Ability to synthesize and interpret data to inform population planning that is aligned with the principles of risk need and responsivity targeting interventions based on a residents level of risk.
  • Demonstrate ability to address the residents criminogenic needs and tailoring services to their individual needs.
  • Proficient in secure data documentation to manage sensitive information responsibly.
  • Strong understanding in facilitating interdepartmental coordination delivering technical guidance and preparing programmatic reports.
  • Ability to work collaborative across divisions provide coaching to staff and lead strategic initiatives.

  • Progressive experience with working in public administration criminal justice or a related field
