Job Description

St. Norbert College (SNC) a nationally ranked private Catholic liberal arts college is seeking an Associate Director of Legacy and Planned Giving. This position serves as a frontline fundraiser responsible for cultivating meaningful relationships with alumni parents and friends of St. Norbert College to secure philanthropic support. The primary focus of this role is to grow and strengthen the Colleges comprehensive planned giving program with an emphasis on increasing the number of individuals who include St. Norbert College in their estate plans. This is an on-site position (requires regular attendance on campus) and reports to the Director of Philanthropic Advising.

Specific responsibilities:

  • Provide strategic leadership for the Legacy and Gift Planning program including the development and assessment of communication marketing and stewardship initiatives; oversight of budgeting and resource allocation; and the creation and evaluation of program policies and procedures.

  • Proactively build and manage a portfolio of prospective donors with the capacity to make leadership annual and major gifts with a particular emphasis on increasing both the number and value of planned giving commitments. Serve as a trusted fundraising partner by initiating contact conducting in-person meetings and engaging donors to explore their philanthropic interests and align them with St. Norbert Colleges funding priorities. Develop and execute individualized cultivation and solicitation strategies including making personal gift requestsboth independently and in collaboration with colleagues. Ensure timely and transparent communication with donors throughout the giving process. Consistently track and report progress toward established annual goals for donor visits qualifications solicitations commitments and dollars raised. Maintain accurate records of all meaningful donor interactions for evaluation and strategic planning purposes.

  • Monitor and track key components of the legacy giving program including progress toward estate giving goals engagement with planned giving prospects Legacy Society member involvement marketing performance metrics donor story opportunities and college-owned life insurance policiesensuring timely follow-up with donors when payment reminders are required.

  • Provide leadership in legacy giving education by cultivating relationships and sharing relevant resources with key partners involved in donors legacy planning including fundraising colleagues and estate or wealth planning professionals. Collaborate with gift officers on donor engagements that involve complex or blended gift arrangements offering expertise and support as needed.


Required Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree

  • 2 years of previous experience in areas such as fundraising estate planning finance legal services or communications is preferred.

  • Valid Drivers License required.

  • Dedicated to working in a mission-driven environment with a profound respect for and commitment to preserving the rich traditions of Catholicism Norbertine values and the liberal arts.

  • Knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Office and Google apps) and proficient with desktop and mobile devices.

  • Demonstrated ability to set clear expectations and meet agreed-upon timelines and targets.

  • Self-motivated and results-oriented with a strong ability to work independently and plan effectively.

  • Skilled in developing strategies identifying key tasks and organizing resources to achieve objectives.

  • Collaborative team player with the ability to co-design and implement projects.

  • Leads by example and continuously learns from experience to improve performance.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a team-oriented mindset.

  • Proven ability to align team goals build consensus and foster effective internal partnerships.

  • Adept at building strategic relationships with leadership colleagues volunteers and alumni to align donor interests with institutional priorities.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; skilled at maintaining strong internal and external relationships.

  • Ability to travel occasionally with overnight stays
