What We Do
There has never been a more exciting time to be at WAHA. We are an integrated health system providing the full continuum of care to the six communities of the western James Bay coast with over 500 employees physicians and partners in care. Who You Are
- Expert knowledge skills and abilities in maternal child health care
- Experience in assessment of maternal health (ante/intra/postpartum) and neonates
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
- Experience working with First Nations people
- Collaborative team player contributing positively to team success
- Must be able to work independently with minimum supervision and within a team setting
- Good interpersonal skills
- Must be willing to travel to all coastal sites
What Youll Do
- Support the nursing team to provide perinatal care to expectant families by conducting comprehensive nursing assessments and supporting appropriate clinical decision making
- Participates in the establishment of a philosophy of care by developing models and standards to promote an interprofessional shared model of care including nursing midwifery physicians and specialists
- Ensure all staff maintain competencies in obstetrical care in collaboration with nursing management
- Demonstrates a commitment to the profession of nursing by certifying in added specialty skills as required
- Establishing updated evidence-based policies and procedures and ensures equipment and supplies are adequate and functioning
- Demonstrate quality improvement actions and a best practice approach in nursing practice
- Organize and lead the WAHA Maternal/Child Committee
What You Bring
- Diploma in Nursing required
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred
- Registered with College of Nurses of Ontario and in good standing
- Certification in obstetrical care
- Ability to communicate in the local Cree language is considered an asset

Salary: $87797.50 - $128700.00
