Job Description

We are searching for a SQL Database Administrator to join our team! As a Database Administrator you will play a critical role in delivering maintaining and innovating highly performant data processing solutions as part of our software-as-a-service products. This includes collaborating with development teams to design build and optimize solutions as well as providing recommendations for database query performance enhancements. Additionally you will ensure the security and integrity of our databases through effective management of access controls and permissions. You will monitor database performance and availability proactively addressing potential issues to ensure continuous operations. Capacity planning and documentation will also be part of your responsibilities ensuring scalability and compliance with industry regulations.

In this role you will:

    • Managing and maintaining databases including installation and configuration
    • Implementing backup and recovery strategies to safeguard data and minimize downtime in case of system failures or disasters.
    • Setting up monitoring tools and alerts to proactively identify and address potential issues or anomalies in database performance and availability.
    • Collaborating with development teams architects and stakeholders to design and implement database schemas ensuring efficiency scalability and data integrity.
    • Optimizing database performance through indexing query optimization and resource utilization monitoring.
    • Forecasting future database growth and resource requirements to ensure scalability and optimal performance.
    • Maintaining thorough documentation of database configurations procedures and best practices to facilitate knowledge sharing and compliance.
    • Developing and implementing automation scripts or tools to streamline routine database administration tasks and improve efficiency.
    • Implementing and enforcing database security policies roles and permissions to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access or breaches.
    • Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards governing data privacy security and retention.

We are looking for:

    • 3 years of experience as a Microsoft SQL Server DBA managing enterprise-level databases in a production environment
    • 2 years of experience with cloud database platforms such as Microsoft Azure SQL Database
    • 2 years of experience with scripting languages (preferably PowerShell) for automation
    • 1 years of experience with Microsoft Azure cloud services such as Azure DevOps and Azure Pipelines
    • Snowflake experience is required
    • Data bricks experience is required
    • Bachelors Degree in Information Systems Computer Science or related field is preferred
    • Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator Associate (or equivalent) are a plus
    • Comprehensive understanding of indexes index management statistics and execution cache
    • Proficiency in database development advanced TSQL stored procedures views etc.
    • Proven track record of troubleshooting and resolving database-related issues optimizing database performance and implementing best practices
    • Hands-on experience using database monitoring and alerting tools for issue detection and remediation
    • Knowledge of High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) options for Azure SQL
    • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies such as Microsoft SQL Server Data Warehouse
    • Experience with agile methodologies is preferred
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex database issues
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
    • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and precision in database management tasks
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with a proactive and results-driven approach to tasks and projects
