Position Summary:
This role will report to the Sr. Director of GMP Facilities. The Metrology Technician will be responsible for performing calibration activities within Ultragenyx GMP QC laboratory in Woburn MA and manufacturing facility in Bedford MA per cGMP 21 CFR.

Work Model:
Core Lab & Ops: This role typically requires that the majority of the work be conducted on-site
Responsibilities:
- Assists in the development of calibration workplans measurement data templates and schedules within Ultragenyxs Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) Blue Mountain RAM (BM RAM)
- Supports Engineering and Validation to perform instrument assessments and ensure instrumentation is calibrated to meet project schedule
- Performs calibrations adjustments and repairs of instrumentation (e.g. temperature pressure weight flow etc.)
- Accurately and contemporaneously enters data into the CMMS
- Troubleshoots complex electrical and controls issues on all building systems and equipment
- Wears appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) on job site and follows all applicable safety precautions
- Executes continuous improvement projects to improve departmental performance
- Demonstrates good safety practices including appropriate use of protective equipment. Reports and takes initiative to correct safety & environmental hazards
- Responds to emergency service calls and on-call support as needed to resolve identified issues in a timely manner and in accordance with all safety quality and compliance requirements
Requirements:
- High School diploma with 3 years of relevant experience as a calibration/instrument technician or Associates Degree/BS in Engineering Math or Sciences with 2 years of relevant experience as a calibration/instrument technician
- PMEL training or ASQ CCT certification preferred
- Proficient using a CMMS Blue Mountain RAM experience preferred
- Experience with 4-20mA loops and use of HART communicators
- Basic understanding of PLC logic required for simple troubleshooting
- Ability to read and interpret P&IDs engineering documents and schematics
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Products such as Word and Excel or equivalent software applications is required
- Ability to work in fast-paced and regulated manufacturing environment
- Demonstrated ability to learn new equipment/systems
- Able to work independently make effective decisions resolve technical issues and manage time effectively
- Must demonstrate effective verbal and written communication and be able to effectively interact with all levels of the organization across all departments
- Travel between the Woburn and Bedford sites will be necessary
Physical Demands/Work Environment/Safety Considerations:
- Stand for extended periods of time with periodic stooping / bending / kneeling
- Ability to climb ladders and stairs of various heights
- Able to lift push pull up to 50lbs
- Work in a controlled environment requiring GxP gowning and wear protective clothing over the head face hands feet and body. This requires the ability to change clothes into appropriate gowning and personal protective equipment
- Certain tasks may require use of a respirator; medical clearance will be required in advance
- Must remove all make-up jewelry and contract lenses while in the manufacturing environment
- Working in temperature controlled environments (cold rooms)
