The University of Iowa Health Care department ofAmbulatory Surgery Centeris seeking a 100% Nurse Clinician to Function as a clinical nurse expert and care coordinator for a specific patient population interfacing with administrative clinical nursing staff physicians and patient/families.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and other health care professionals in the development and review of standards and in planning implementing and evaluating patient care for a specific patient population.
- Provide direct nursing care facilitate continuity of care and follow universal precautions.
- Coordinate and facilitate patient care between multiple disciplines including home health agencies referring physicians and other community support services.
- Serve as a clinical resource or consultant for specific patient population.
- Communicate with physicians and members of the health care team directing patient care.
- Provide leadership for direct patient care programs in area of specialization collaborating with unit-based nurse management team(s).
- Participate in decision-making process for financial management operational budgetary decisions and cost containment strategies.
- Participate in/provide leadership for divisional departmental and/or intra institutional and community committees and projects.
- Participate in the ongoing implementation of current regulatory standards in order to meet state and national agency accreditation.
- Perform other special projects and tasks as assigned.
- Serve as an educational and clinical resource to patient/family/staff.
- Support the implementation and evaluation of staff education and orientation programs.
- Facilitate the educational experience for health care students and monitor the care delivered.
- Incorporate the role of patient care provider advocate (patient family and health care professional) consultant educator researcher and quality manager.
- Participate in the development and implementation of division/unit quality assessment and improvement programs.
- Use relevant nursing research to improve clinical practice and investigate nursing care problems.
- Participate in development and conduct of research activities related to area of specialty.
- Responsible for maintaining clinical expertise consistent with patient population requirements and current nursing and medical practice.
- Adhere to professional and legal standards of nursing practice.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and staff information.
- Promote a positive work environment.
- Demonstrate the core values of service leadership: respect communication accountability integrity and compassion.
- Maintain effective working relationships with faculty staff students and the public.
- Review specific patient population preference cards and work with multidisciplinary team regarding equipment and supply needs on the unit.
- Review OR case schedule regularly working with clinics/schedulers surgical teams anesthesia and team members to ensure case scheduling accuracy.
Percent of Time: 100%
Schedule: Monday through Friday. 8-hour shifts 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. One extension of shift (call 2) per week.
Salary: $61216 to commensurate. Other salary prorated based on percentage. Shift differentials are further detailed in the UI Health Care SNAHP manual.

Required Qualifications:
- A Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required.
- Reasonable (1-3 years) nursing experience is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in specific clinical area of practice is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
- Demonstrated expertise in Epic Optime with preference card build updates and order sets.
Desired Qualifications:
- CNOR certification within 2 years of obtaining position.
- ACLS certification
