Project Manager
Location: Remote (with ability to travel to NY)
Reports To: President and Parent Company CEO
Role Summary:
Our client is seeking a mission-critical remote-first Project Manager to own and orchestrate the end-to-end of all new machine builds from the moment a sales order is booked through successful delivery to the customer. This role is the single point of accountability for schedule integrity resource forecasting sub-assembly sequencing and on-time build delivery.
You will partner closely with Plant Operations Engineering Sales Engineering Vendor Management Customer Success and Inventory teams to drive build progress resolve blockers and provide real-time visibility across stakeholders. This is not a passive coordination role it s a high-ownership executional command center for our client s most critical revenue-generating operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Machine Build Tracking & Project
Own and manage the master build schedule for all machines in production including sequencing of sub-assemblies component lead times and projected vs. actual labor hours.
Build and maintain a centralized workflow in integrating updates from Fishbowl MRP and field teams to provide real-time visibility across departments.
Break down machine builds into structured phases and milestones (e.g. frame welding electrical panel final assembly) with ownership timelines and dependencies.
Serve as the primary coordinator across:
Plant Operations for manpower and floor progress
Engineering for drawings changes and mechanical/electrical specs
Vendor & Inventory Managers for incoming parts and stock shortages
Sales & Customer Success Managers for external delivery commitments and install planning
Lead weekly cross-functional project check-ins with clear updates risk mitigation plans and status reports to leadership.
Escalate delays missing parts or resource bottlenecks with proactive recovery plans.
Develop a fully integrated build visibility system combining:
for timeline sub-task progress communication logs and KPIs across builds
Fishbowl MRP for parts availability purchasing and WIP status
Work with internal tech or operations teams to create dashboards that visualize build complete lead time health and forecast delivery dates.
Track and validate actual vs. planned labor hours across machine sections and full builds.
Collaborate with Plant Ops leadership to plan weekly staffing and staging to maintain throughput.
Support hiring requests or temporary workforce scaling when builds exceed forecasted demand.
Requirements:
5 years of experience managing complex manufacturing or mechanical assembly projects (preferably capital equipment or industrial machinery)
Demonstrated success delivering multi-phase mechanical/electrical builds on time and on budget
Strong familiarity with workflow/project tools or similar) and MRP/ERP systems (Fishbowl NetSuite or equivalent)
Ability to lead cross-functional initiatives across remote hybrid and on-site stakeholders
Exceptional time management follow-through and accountability mindset
Comfortable traveling as needed to on-site plant
Background in capital equipment packaging/converting machinery or other low-volume high-complexity manufacturing would be ideal but not required
Experience deploying or maintaining build visibility dashboards
Formal training or certification in PMP Lean Six Sigma or related frameworks would be ideal but not required
