Job Description

***Only qualified Controls Engineer candidates located near Alpharetta GA area to be considered due to the position requiring an onsite presence***

Education & Experience Required:
- Bachelors degree in engineering Electrical Manufacturing or Mechanical Engineering preferred
- Open to 2-year degrees within EE with 5 years of experience
- Internships will not be counted
- Open to Masters with 3 years of experience

Experience:
- 3-5 years experience required.

Technical Skills (Required)
- Ability to create PLC programs using one of the IEC 61131 PLC Programming languages i.e. Ladder Logic Function Block Diagram Structured Text or any other PLC programming language
- Design test and commission control systems. i.e. systems with different PLC controllers in the same system experience interfacing designing controls with different manufacturers
- Develop control software utilizing various PLC platforms. Expert knowledge on at least one of the following PLC platforms. Schneider Momentum M340 M580 AB Control Compact Logix Woodward MSLC DSLC Easy Gen and LS5 Architecture
- Interpret customer specifications and drawings and apply them to design platform while considering industry regulations and requirements
- Customize PLC software and hardware templates

Technical Skills (Desired)
- Understand in detail the applicable NEC UL 508 UL 891 UL 1558 UL MV CSA 22-2 and ANSI requirements and their applications in switchgear controls
- Understand protective relays their functions associated with Generator and Utility protection applications

Soft Skills (Required)
- Understand the design philosophy operation and control of complex PLC based systems
- Verbal and written communication skills problem solving skills customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Expert ability to work independently and manage ones time.
- Expert leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback.

Typical task breakdown:
- Execute and support the design test manufacture and commissioning of low and medium voltage switchgear that controls multiple generators which parallel to one or more utility sources
- Provide direction to CAD designers to create wiring and assembly drawings for generator paralleling switchgear controls
- Interact with internal and external customers accomplishing project milestones
- Create bill of materials for generator paralleling switchgear controls in ERP system
- Create PLC programs for control of generator paralleling switchgear
- Execute multiple projects simultaneously
