Job Description

Job Summary
The Organic Laboratory Teaching Assistant (TA) will report to the instructor of the course and/or the laboratory coordinator for the course. The approximate hours for a semester will be 3 hours per week (39 h each semester). The course instructor and/or laboratory coordinator will inform the TAs of performance deficiencies (if any) and where they are performing well on an on-going basis. A TA who is not meeting the communicated expectations may be dismissed and replaced with another qualified applicant at any time during the semester for which they are hired. Fall2025 lab sections : 1) CHM 376A (Mon 1:35-4-35) 2) CHM 376B (Mon 6:10-9:10 PM) 3) CHM 375A (Tues 12:55-3:55 PM) 4) CHM 375B (Wed 1:35-4:35 PM) 5) CHM 375C (Wed 6:10-9:10 PM) 6) CHM 376D (Tues 6:10-9:10 PM) 7) CHM 376E (Fri 1:35-4:35 PM) 8) Lab preparatory work (potential times: Tues mornings or Thurs morning or Thursday afternoon)

Minimum Qualifications
Must have completed laboratory course that the person is applying to be the TA for with a successful grade (B or higher). Good technical and people skills. The ability to communicate effectively. Knowledge of safe laboratory practices. Knowledge of underlying chemistry concepts

Preferred Qualifications
Previous TA experience.
