About Strescon Limited

Established in 1963 Strescon Limited has grown to become the largest precast pre-stressed concrete manufacturer in Eastern Canada. Its primary market covers the Atlantic Provinces and the New England region of the United States. Strescon manufactures a wide range of both architectural and structural precast/prestressed concrete products including bridge girders wall panels complete parking garages hollowcore slabs precast pile and deck slabs. Strescon presently has two facilities: 70000 . in Saint John New Brunswick and 50000 . in Bedford Nova Scotia.

In addition to our engineered precast facilities for custom components Strescon also operates a 32000 sq. ft. facility in Saint John which manufactures standard concrete products for engineered drainage systems such as pipe manholes and catchbasins.

Job Summary

Working under the direction of a Senior Engineer the Civil Engineering Designer will learn to be responsible for designing precast/prestressed concrete elements for various construction projects. As a member of the Engineering team the ideal candidate should have familiarity with structural engineering principles and construction practices and must be comfortableinteractingwith internal teams. This position requires high attention to detail reading specifications and architectural and structural drawings to ensure the precast design meets contract requirements. In general this is a position where guidelines structure and established procedures must be followed closely.

Responsibilities

  • Design precast/prestressed concrete elements
  • Prepare detailed designs and calculations for precast/prestressed elements
  • Conduct structural analysis and ensure compliance with relevant codes and standards
  • Participate in project meetings and provide input on design solutions

Technical Requirements

  • Must obtain professional license in Canada upon completion of training hours
  • Bachelors degree in civil engineering structural engineering or a related field
  • Knowledge of civil design obtained through education or work experience

Business Requirements

  • Required to obtain professional license for Maine Massachusetts and other states as supported by the company
  • Proficiency with structural analysis tools would be an asset
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines

Cultural Requirements

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Self starter who is able to work independently
