Why Austal
Austalis Australias global shipbuilder Defence prime contractor and maritime technology partner of choice designing constructing and supporting defence and commercial vessels for the worlds leading operators. The company operates in Australia the USA Philippines and Vietnam.
Austal Australia is delivering multiple naval shipbuilding and sustainment programs for the Royal Australian Navy Australian Border Force and the Department of Defence employing approximately 1000 people in facilities in located Western Australia Queensland and the Northern Territory.
About the Opportunity
Austal and the Commonwealth of Australia are currently negotiating a landmark Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA) that will support the Continuous Naval Shipbuilding and Sustainment Enterprise and the delivery of multiple new defence force shipbuilding projects such as Landing Craft-Medium and Landing Craft-Heavy for the Australian Army.
Once signed the SSA will drive significant growth across our industry and workforce as we deliver both existing and new programs under a long-term partnership. It will also enable the design and construction of vessels at our Henderson shipyard and marks a major step forward in establishing enduring shipbuilding capability within the Henderson Defence Precinct and across Western Australia.
To achieve this we are building a highly skilled team to engage with local industry and supply chains and work on complex large-scale projects that reflect Austals proven capabilities and trusted performance.
Austal is seeking a skilled Solution Architect to lead the design and management of digital technology solutions that address complex business challenges. Reporting to the Digital Services Manager this role is central to translating business needs into technical requirements and creating blueprints for digital solutions under the Strategic Shipbuilding Agreement (SSA).
Focused on Austals Defence digital architecture the Solution Architect will guide development and integration efforts ensuring alignment with corporate systems and strategic goals. This is a key opportunity to drive innovation enable data-driven decision-making and enhance operational efficiency across the organisation.
Whats Involved
- Designing detailed technical solutions that support and achieve defined project goals.
- Ensuring individual software projects are aligned with overall business strategy and adhere to established technology standards.
- Collaborating effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to ensure clear communication and successful solution delivery.
- Implementing cybersecurity controls within the broader solution architecture to ensure compliance and protect digital assets.
Youll Need
- Bachelors degree in a related field such as Computer Science or Information Technology or working towards
- 10 years experience designing and implementing enterprise ICT architectures
- In dept knowledge of solution architecture concepts including solution integration data quality and data integration
- Understanding of cloud solution delivery from Cloud Service Providers such as Azure
- Cloud Certification such as Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect is highly desirable
