Job Description
About the Role:
We are looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead multiple backend engineering teams working on Thales Data Securitys enterprise-grade cybersecurity products. This is a strategic leadership role focused on people management crossfunctional collaboration and technical direction without direct hands-on coding. Each team under your responsibility will be led by a team lead and you will be responsible for their growth alignment and delivery. As part of the leadership group you will play a key role in shaping the organizations technical vision and ensuring consistent execution across products and teams.
Key Responsibilities:
Manage multiple Java backend teams through their team leads ensuring alignment with product and engineering goals.
Drive team performance talent development and operational excellence across all phases of the development lifecycle.
Collaborate with Product Architecture QA Support and Customer Success to prioritize and deliver high-quality product increments.
Set clear goals ensure timely execution and monitor KPIs to maintain focus and accountability.
Oversee capacity planning hiring and organizational growth in alignment with business needs.
Serve as an escalation point for technical challenges cross-team dependencies and customer-related issues.
Required Qualifications:
./. in Computer Science or equivalent from a recognized university.
10 years of experience in software development with 3 years in managing engineering managers or team leads.
Proven success in managing multiple backend-focused teams in complex
product environments.
Strong understanding of Java backend architecture microservices REST APIs and enterprise application patterns.
Experience managing distributed teams in Agile environments.
Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS Azure or GCP) and modern CI/CD processes.
Excellent leadership communication and stakeholder management skills.
Preferred Skills:
Experience in cybersecurity or data infrastructure products.
Exposure to front-end technologies DevOps pipelines and distributed systems.
Experience working with global teams across multiple time zones.
Strong understanding of secure coding practices and enterprise compliance requirements.
