The Opportunity
We are seeking a passionate Research Assistant to join our cutting-edge research team in molecular science within Monash Biomedicine Discovery Institute (BDI).
Were offering an exciting opportunity for a Level A Research Assistant who will contribute to the Universitys research efforts and develop their scientific expertise through focused and meaningful projects. This role is ideal for someone eager to work in a collaborative environment supporting ongoing studies and pursuing new scientific insights.
This position involves hands-on research including the expression and purification of proteins and protein complexes molecular biology techniques such as PCR and mutagenesis and a variety of biophysical and cell-based assays. Youll also be responsible for cell culture flow cytometry and comprehensive data analysis. In addition to experimental work the role includes lab management dutiessuch as maintaining inventories preparing reagents writing protocols and ensuring a clean safe working environment. Your contributions will be instrumental in ensuring the smooth running of both research projects and day-to-day lab operations.
The successful candidate will report to a Senior Research Fellow Ram Bhusal and Professor Martin Stone who co-lead this project.
Biochemistry and Molecular Biology are closely-related disciplines which study the chemical components of living cells including the genetic material in order to understand biological processes and how these are altered in disease.
Research and teaching in the department encompasses six broad themes: cell biology signal transduction host/pathogen interaction structural biology immunology and developmental biology. Our research is highly relevant to major human diseases and pathological processes including infection inflammation diabetes and obesity developmental and degenerative disorders cardiovascular disease and cancer.
