Job Description

Essential Job Functions:

  • Can perform record and interpret all titrations
  • Knows and understands how to transfer titration sheet information
  • Ability to control bath temperatures using temp controller and/or manually
  • Ability to conduct a tank transfer to and from holding tanks
  • Communicates with the water treatment operator on tank dumps
  • Able to transfer chemicals from drums/totes to tanks manually with pump
  • Ability to make water and chemical additions to maintain proper concentration and cleanliness
  • Comprehends operation of React controller ex. Decontamination time feed counter flow settings
  • Effectively uses scrubber brushes by making proper adjustments when needed and should know where reset button is located in case either brush kicks out
  • Turn off chemcoater on night strips
  • Understands production schedule steel sheets and paint sheets for proper treatment changes
  • Able to control tank/bath levels
  • Recycles 1402W and rinse water from chemcoater clean-ups and drains to the tote to be reused
  • Comprehends conductivity probe operation & able to troubleshoot a proper problem
  • Knows how to charge a new bath
  • Knows how to maintain and follow up on the wet section PM log
  • Able to change tank/bath screens
  • Knows how to  adjust and clean spray bars in spray booths
  • Adjust squeeze roll pressures
  • Understands and knows how Oil Separator is operated and cleaned
  • Able to perform treatment Quick Changes in a timely manner  
  • Capable of performing start-up/shut-down processes of wet section
  • Understands basic waste treatment operations
  • Understands and is able use Henkel manual
  • Knowledge of and capable of performing procedures on chemical and/or bath spills
  • Communicates verbally with other departments of the plant concerning plant operations
  • Check equipment and fill out daily log sheet
  • Calibrate process control equipment as needed
  • Understands basic waste treatment operations

  • Keep steering unit covers clean
  • Take chemical inventory and record chemical and water usage daily
  • Clean tanks as required
  • Understands basic waste treatment operations
  • Maintains clean and organized work area according to 6S standards

Other Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Opens containers
  • Replaces coating roll bearings
  • Performs  pretreatment coating roll changes and know the difference in coater rolls and their use
  • Participates in squeegee roll and bearing changes in tank cleaning spray bar header & nozzle cleaning and other line upkeep as needed
  • Properly labels all wastes.
  • Utilizes satellite accumulation area for hazardous waste operations
  • Inspects chemcoater rolls  for potential damage and/or roll grind pattern
  • Actively participates in adhering to plant housekeeping requirements by picking up trash sweeping work areas and returning materials and equipment to their proper locations
  • Assists maintenance (when specialized maintenance skills are not required) with line repairs and clean up
  • Ability to handle totes with a hand truck or forklift
  • Knowledge and ability to make quick decisions when supervision is not readily available.
  • Work from ladders and platforms at various heights
  • Visual acuity to read and record sample information
  • Understands and utilizes FIFO procedures in connection with wet section chemicals and other materials
  • Adheres to all safety and work rules
  • Adheres to job specific SOPs
  • Assists and trains new employees
  • Maintains regular and on-time attendance
  • Reads and comprehends instructions regarding new equipment equipment changes and/or procedural changes
  • Performs miscellaneous assignments as directed
  • Use computer to enter and retrieve information

Critical Demands:

  • Ability to handle 55-gallon drums with hand-operated drum trucks
  • Hand eye and feet coordination to operate fork trucks
  • Squat kneel or stoop frequently to perform job duties
  • Reach or extend forward for long periods of time to perform job duties
  • Ability to read and comprehend written materials such as schedules SOPs work rules etc.
  • Ability to comprehend and follow oral instructions
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 50 pounds
  • Walk or stand for extended periods of time
  • Stamina to work in extreme temperatures
  • Ascend and descend stairs to reach work areas
  • Dexterity to operate computers in order to enter or retrieve information
  • Communicate with other employees verbally or in writing
  • Repetitive use of hands to press buttons and operate line controls
  • Occasional twisting of the neck and trunk
  • Sufficient physical movement in order to safely operate complex high speed equipment
  • Experience and ability to make quick decisions when supervision is not readily available

Qualifications :

  • High school level reading and writing visual acuity to read labels meters gauges documents and instructions
  • Six months work experience in an industrial or warehouse environment with fork lifts
  • Ability to safely operate small manual and electric hand tools
  • Available to work up to 12 hours per day on rotating shifts that could include weekends and holidays
  • 6 to 12 months previous experience on a coating line is preferred
