MS/HS Track and Field Jumps Coach
Fall 2025
University School of Nashville seeks a Middle and High School Track and Field Jumps Coach to support and develop our program for the 202526 school year. The goal of the schools athletics department is to create a positive environment that reflects transformational coaching. The position calls for excellent teamwork with colleagues and incorporates best practices into a growth-oriented teaching style in a K-12 school environment.
The ideal candidate for this position will have extensive experience in coaching and teaching track and field jumping events (long jump triple jump high jump pole vault). They should also align with our schools values and mission for fostering the best in educational practices and striving for excellence while meeting each students athletic potential. Our high school season runs from February through May with practices at our River Campus facility from 3:455:30 p.m. There would be additional expectations to provide opportunities for pre-season development in the winter to prepare for indoor and outdoor competition.
Responsibilities:
Design and implement training programs specifically for jumping events that advance individual and team performance skills
Provide individualized instruction and feedback to student-athletes to improve technique strength and overall competitive readiness in jumps
Support the head track and field coach in developing and executing practice plans and meet-day strategies
Promote the physical emotional and social development of student-athletes emphasizing sportsmanship teamwork and personal growth
Uphold the highest standards of professional conduct complying with department and institutional policies as well as the rules of the state athletic association
Monitor athlete safety and support injury prevention through proper warm-ups cool-downs and strength and plyometric training
Assist with pre-season development and training opportunities to prepare athletes for the spring season
Relate well to student-athletes fellow coaches game officials parents and the broader school community
Demonstrate strong communication skills both written and verbal
Attend all department meetings and actively contribute to a positive collaborative coaching environment
Serve as a role model for student-athletes through high standards of behavior and leadership
Contribute to the maintenance of good working relationships with all staff student-athletes and external constituents through:
a positive and constructive approach to all tasks
respect for the competencies of others
appropriate conflict resolution behavior
Perform other duties as assigned by the head track and field coach or the Director of Athletics

The School
University School of Nashville is an independent non-sectarian co-educational day school with enrollment of 1080 students kindergarten through twelfth grade. In 1915 the George Peabody College for Teachers opened Peabody Demonstration School (PDS) USNs predecessor which earned acclaim for its curriculum and faculty. In 1974 Peabody College announced plans to close PDS and a group of parents alumni students and teachers reconstituted and re-chartered the school as University School of Nashville.
