Job Description

  • Permanent Full-Time Position Monday to Friday
  • Based in the NAC Oakey Community Information Centre
  • Drive positive outcomes with landholders

The New Acland Coal Mine (NAC) a thin seam open cut mining operation is owned and managed by New Hope Group. Based in Acland a short drive north-west of Toowoomba NAC has played a key role in the Darling Downs region as an employer and economic contributor since it began operation in October 2002. NAC has been an important contributor to the local community supporting social and community projects local partnerships information sharing and stakeholder engagement initiatives.

As we continue to invest and partner with our community we are excited to offer the next great opportunity for a Landholder Liaison Officer to join our team based in our NAC Community Information Centre in Oakey. This role will be instrumental in continuing to facilitate communication and engagement between NAC and landholders.

What you will be doing:

As a key member of our Community team you will establish and maintain constructive working relationships with landholders and ensure their concerns are addressed respectfully and transparently.

You will achieve success by:

  • Providing clear and accurate information and updates to landholders regarding project activities timelines and impacts
  • Facilitate and conduct field visits to understand land use foster long-term relationships and promote genuine collaboration
  • Collaborating with site personnel on current and emerging landholder issues to ensure impacts are considered during project and operational planning and activities
  • Supporting the negotiation and management of land access agreements ensuring compliance and best practice
  • Maintaining detailed records of landholder interactions and commitments
  • Providing support at NAC community events and initiatives as required

What you will need to succeed:

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) including the ability to adapt communication as needed
  • Genuine commitment to building positive working relationships and trust with landholders
  • Good problem solving-skills ability to work effectively within a team and collaborate with other internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with landowners.
  • Knowledge of rural and agricultural / farming land use practices and good understanding of rural communities
  • Current Working with Children Check or ability to obtain
  • Current C Class Drivers Licence
