Hourly Pay Rate: $150 per hour 12% superannuation
Security Clearance/Requirements: Must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident at time of application

A major data capability transformation is underway within a state government directorate aiming to unlock the full value of healthcare data to improve patient care service efficiency compliance and research outcomes. As part of this initiative they are seeking a skilled Data Engineer to join a dynamic and self-organising team developing reusable data products on a modern MS Fabric platform using Medallion architecture.
You will work collaboratively with team members including a Product Owner Data Modelling Lead QA Tester and Business Analyst contributing to the design and development of high-quality standards-aligned data products.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Contribute to the detailed design development testing and documentation of data products
Collaborate closely with the project team using lean and agile practices
Optimise and troubleshoot data pipelines for performance and reliability
Interpret and implement data requirements based on input from Data Reference Groups and Product Owner
Ensure compliance with data governance security and architecture standards
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in data engineering and MS Fabric
Mandatory:
Strong critical thinking skills with an understanding of the role of data products in regulated environments like healthcare
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
Proficient in Python and SQL
Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps practices
Strong communication skills and a collaborative team-oriented mindset
Highly Desirable:
Experience working with health data
Experience using PySpark
Familiarity with Azure DevOps and MS Fabric environments
