TasNetworks is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Strategic Investment Engineer to play a critical role in shaping the long-term asset management strategy and investment planning across our asset portfolio. This is a unique opportunity to lead strategic planning initiatives deliver transformational change and help position TasNetworks for long-term success in a complex and evolving energy environment.
In this role you will be responsible for maintaining a robust and forward-looking 10-year asset management plan encompassing both capital (CAPEX) and operational (OPEX) programs and projects. Your insights will directly influence strategic decision-making and portfolio prioritisation ensuring alignment with company objectives compliance standards and industry best practices.
You will develop and embed systems and processes that enable predictive analytics and reliability tracking using critical metrics such as probability of failure asset condition and criticalityparticularly within platforms such as Copperleaf and SAP. Your work will help drive data-informed planning and investment decisions while ensuring transparency through alignment with actual vs. budget reporting.
As a strategic project leader you will manage and coordinate changes to asset management processes working closely with asset engineers and broader stakeholder groups.
To be successful in this role you will hold a tertiary qualification in engineering project or program management reliability engineering production planning or a related discipline with over five years of relevant experience. You will also have significant program management experience ideally within a utility or related infrastructure environment.
Youll possess a sound understanding of cost management change control planning and risk analysis. Strong financial and program reporting capabilities are required along with expertise in net present value (NPV) application volume/cost/time variation impact analysis and trend identification.
A high level of proficiency in applying probability of failure criticality and consequence modelling within asset management is essential as is the ability to analyse and leverage master data to inform strategic decisions. You will be experienced in stakeholder engagement particularly in working with operations teams to ensure alignment between strategy inputs/outputs and work done.
We are looking for someone who has implemented or improved operational processes and systems with a strong track record of building reporting and analytics frameworks that drive agile data-driven decision-making. Proficiency in the Microsoft suite of tools is essential.
