Job Description Summary
Reporting to the Chief Academic Officer and Provost of Teaching Learning & Student Success a key member of the Teaching Learning and Student Success leadership team the Dean of Professional Studies and Community Education ensures the educational welfare of students and the professional needs of faculty and staff in the division. The Dean is responsible for promoting academic administrative and fiscal leadership in accordance with Colleges strategic plan. The Dean fosters and supports innovative teaching and learning approaches for the division actively promotes and advocates for Colleges implementation of guided pathways and supports students throughout their educational journey. The Dean is responsible and accountable for the development expansion and continuous improvement of high-quality programs within the division designed to address community needs and provide stackable credentials and degrees that provide seamless articulation with secondary and postsecondary partners as well as the Colleges noncredit programs and offerings. The Dean develops long- and short-range plans and exercises management responsibility for academic program planning faculty matters and administration including staffing budgets and facilities. The Dean fosters a high-quality environment of teaching and intellectual achievement and creates and strengthens partnerships within and outside the College.
Minimum Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Masters or Doctorate degree required in one of the fields/disciplines represented in the Division: Business Criminal Justice Education Fire Science Forensic Science Paralegal Studies. For applicants with a masters degree: Minimum of 12 years of combined full-time administrative experience (preferably at the department chair level or higher) and post-secondary teaching experience in a college or university setting required. Minimum of four years of supervisory experience required. For applicants with a Doctorate degree: Minimum of 8 years of combined full-time administrative experience (preferably at the department chair level or higher) and post-secondary teaching experience in a college or university setting required. Minimum of four years of supervisory experience required.
