Overview

The Research Compliance Manager supports the Research Compliance Officer by promoting a strong culture of ethical research practices and regulatory awareness. He/she helps ensure research activities follow relevant rules and policies using a practical risk-based approach. Strong candidates will have extensive knowledge of research areas such as human research animal welfare grants management conflict of interest export control and patient billing. They also have the ability to work independently manage large projects analyze issues of diverse scope and complexity and propose solutions. The Research Compliance Manager is a member of the Corporate Compliance department.

Because we value the safety of the patients and families we serve as well as the Childrens Mercy staff we want to let you know that the seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees in our organization. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles mumps rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus diphtheria acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a point of contact for CMH staff who are seeking guidance on issues related to research compliance.
  • Provides guidance based upon analysis and interpretation of regulations policies and guidance documents.
  • Identifies gaps in education and develops training or other resources to address these gaps.
  • Receives reported compliance concerns and independently assesses the validity of report.
  • Performs investigations where required determines root cause of non-compliance and assists parties in the development of corrective action plans.
  • Assists in the performance of risk assessments and the development of annual work plans.
  • Independently plans and completes focused monitoring and auditing activities.
  • Stays current on developing research compliance issues.
  • Assists in the management of research related conflicts of interest.
  • Collaborates and partners with peer functions including Research and Sponsored Program Administration the Office of Research Integrity Research Quality Monitoring and others.

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in clinical or life sciences preferred with 5-7 years experience
  • Current HCCA CHRC certification or obtain within 365 days of employment
