Job Description

AUTOMATION CONTROLS ENGINEER

The Automation team is responsible for the planning designing programming testing start up and commissioning of automation systems throughout our manufacturing facilities.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and design electro-mechanical automation systems
  • Create and maintain schematics and drawings for automation systems
  • Assist in developing robotics and automation roadmap for manufacturing facilities
  • Responsible for overseeing scope cost and schedule of automation projects - including system designs bills of materials and specifications
  • Select component vendors for designed systems
  • Research and stay current with best available technologies related to automation
  • Programming of HMIs PLCs robots and vision systems
  • Testing and debugging of systems prior to placing in production
  • Provide technical support as required to ensure automation systems are operating and optimized including troubleshooting and operator training
  • Assist plant personnel in development and implementation of efficiency projects
  • Other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • 2 years experience in factory automation designing and implementing industrial automation systems in a manufacturing environment
  • Strong computer skills. 3D / CAD experience - preferably SolidWorks
  • Experience developing electrical and mechanical schematics and BOMS
  • Able to translate automation conceptual designs into functional systems
  • Ability to work independently and on a team
  • CREATIVE and willing to experiment
  • Positive can do attitude.

THE FOLLOWING EXPERIENCE IS A PLUS BUT NOT REQUIRED:

  • B.S. or associates degree in mechanical or electrical engineering/technology or related field
  • Experience Fanuc and Universal robots and vision systems

This is a full time position in the competitive and challenging metal manufacturing field. The pay range/rate of pay for this position may vary depending on a number of factors including but not limited to the position offered location education training and/or experience.
