Sessional Lecturer - URB433H1F - Special Topics in Urban Studies: Creative Citizens & the Art of Discovery

Course Description: This course explores our understanding of urban space through the lens of public art engaging multiple perspectives ranging from artists practices community participation to municipal policy. Experiential learning is integrated with several focused expeditions in the field (walking tours) supported by research and readings to situate Toronto and its creative public realm in a global and historical context.

Estimate of course enrollment: 30

Estimate of TA Support: None

Class Schedule: Fridays 2:00pm to 5:00pm

Sessional dates of appointment: September 1 2025 December 31 2025

Salary: Sessional Lecturer I - $9820.70.

Sessional Lecturer I Long-term - $10510.03.

Sessional Lecturer II - $10510.03.

Sessional Lecturer II Long-term - $10760.27;
Sessional Lecturer III - $10760.27.

Sessional Lecturer III Long-term - $11030.35.

Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.

Qualifications:

PhD in related field preferred

MA in related field

At least 5 years of experience teaching at the university level

At least 5 years of experience marking undergraduate essays

Evidence of recent teaching effectiveness

Ability to teach online if required

Brief description of duties: Preparing course outline and syllabus. Delivering lectures; developing and administering grading course assignments. Holding office hours. Grading of assignments and providing student feedback.
