Job Description
Summary
The King County 911 Program Office has an opportunity for a 911 Technical Specialist. In this position you will have an opportunity to utilize your technical skills in a way that makes a real difference. You will be part a team that supports the 911 infrastructure in King County and help ensure that maintenance and configuration changes are carried out to prevent interruption to this critical service. You will work with end-users and vendors to maximize system efficiency while providing the optimum service possible to the people of King County. Once trained you will assist in providing 24/7 service on a rotating basis.
The King County 911 Program Office supports 11 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAPs) in King County in addition to maintaining two test environments. This position serves as an integral part of a small team of Production Engineers supporting 911 Infrastructure in King County. The 911 Technical Specialist will also work closely with vendor support on issue resolution software upgrades new feature implementation and testing. This position will represent King County within the PSAP community as well as with the vendors and service providers.

To learn more about KCIT please visit: DutiesAnalyze and test system performance including impact of change. Serve as a primary escalation point for issues with 911 call delivery or equipment. Interface with the vendor for troubleshooting and resolution. Use knowledge of 911 systems and PSAP operations to research evaluate and recommend improvements. Create and maintain documentation on the architecture and use of the systems. Automate routine tasks to improve efficiency and accuracy. Participate in Change Management review proposed architecture and identify risk mitigation opportunities. Act as primary point of contact for after-hours support on a rotating basis.
Experience Qualifications Knowledge Skills
- 3 Years supporting 9-1-1 infrastructure or PSAP system support
- Practical experience troubleshooting complex systems
- Proven ability to troubleshoot using remote connectivity
- Capable of working independently and within a team
- Ability to communicate clearly
- Familiarity with reporting platforms and report creation
- Collaboration and teamwork
- Initiative and strong work ethic
- Security Awareness
- Passion for continuous improvement
- Valid WA State Drivers License
- Successful completion of a Criminal Justive Information System (CJIS) background check including fingerprinting
- This position will require a polygraph test throught the KC Sherriffs for secure access
Supplemental Information
Hybrid Work
The work associated with this position will be performed through a combination of onsite work at various KC facilities and telecommuting. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksiteto respond to workplace reporting requirements. King County has a robust collection of toolsandresources to support when working remotely.

Work Schedule
The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is FLSA Exempt and is not eligible for overtime pay.Once trained you will assist in providing 24/7 service on a rotating basis.
