Job Description
We are seeking a strong candidate for a hybrid role that combines responsibilities as a Customer Support Specialist and an Export Control Expert. In this dual-capacity position you will play a key role in supporting day-to-day customer service operations while also ensuring compliance with U.S. and international export control regulations.
As the Export Control Expert for the Coherents Innovion team you will be responsible for maintaining the companys compliance with regulations such as the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) the Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and other relevant laws. This includes product classification export transaction review license management and collaboration with internal teams to minimize compliance risks.
In the Customer Support Specialist capacity you will manage customer interactions and oversee operational processes to ensure seamless and high-quality customer experience.
Export Control Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Review and classify products software and technology under EAR ITAR and other relevant regulations.
- Screen transactions customers and destinations for export compliance risks.
- Prepare submit and manage export license applications and agreements.
- Monitor and maintain records of exports and ensure proper documentation is retained.
- Assist in internal audits and investigations related to export activities.
- Provide training and guidance to internal teams on export control requirements.
- Monitor regulatory changes and assess potential impacts on business operations.
- Collaborate with engineering legal supply chain and sales teams on export-related matters.
Customer Support Primary Duties & Responsibilities
- Work with sales team to prepare quotes in CRM
- Work with sales team to ensure forecast reflects status of order in CRM
- Update Orders in CRM to include adjustments and update status of completed jobs
- Create order in CRM for incoming work that has not been quoted for
- Enter recipes into IPC
- Process Sales adjustments and forward on to Finance department
- Customer communication for in-house orders
Education & Experience
- Associates/Bachelors degree in International Business Law Political Science Engineering or a related field.
- 2 years of experience in export compliance or a similar regulatory/compliance role.
Skills
- Strong analytical organizational and communication skills.
- Proficiency with compliance screening tools (e.g. Visual Compliance Amber Road).
- Experience with SAP Oracle or similar ERP systems is desirable.
- Experience with global trade management systems and automated export systems (AES).
Working Conditions
- The candidate might be asked to work in a clean room. The candidate should feel comfortable in a clean room suit (bunny suit).
Physical Requirements
- The candidate will have to move wafer boxes and should feel comfortable lifting 20 lbs.
Safety Requirements
All employees are required to follow the site EHS procedures and Coherent Corp. Corporate EHS standards. The candidate will have to meet ITAR requirements.
