TheCity of Oxnards Cultural and Recreation Services Senior Services Divisionis seekingaCultural &Recreation Services Coordinatorwith strong planning program design and volunteer managementskills to be a part of our team. Thisindividual must be comfortable recruiting seniors forvolunteer positions collaborating with area non-profits organizing and running trainings/in servicesand collecting/analyzing data. The ideal candidate willhave experience working with seniors grantsvolunteers and/or in the non-profit community. This positionwill be responsible for independentlyperforming a wide range of administrative and analytical tasks.
WHAT YOULL DO:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the Retired Senior Volunteer Program
Recruit volunteers for local non-profits as well as to lead City exercise classes
Organize trainings and volunteer appreciations
Work with up to 200 volunteers reporting directly to you
Oversee program data collection input and reporting
Track and report on program financials
Be able to lift up to 20lbs

DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS:
This classification is distinguished from the Cultural and Recreation Services Specialist in that it provides professional journey level program supervision planning coordinating and marketing.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED / SUPERVISION RECEIVED:
May serve as lead worker assigning work and monitoring work completion; or may supervise paraprofessional and/or support staff including conducting performance evaluations coordinating training and implementing hiring discipline and termination procedures. Receives general supervision and is expected to prioritize work to meet deadlines and to keep the supervisor informed of issues that would impact achievement of a deadline organizational policy or procedure or in consideration of risk management.
WORK SCHEDULE:The normal work week is Monday through Thursday 8:00am to 6:00pm and alternating Fridays 8:00am to 5:00pm. Depending on the area of assignment staff may be assigned to a shift that is outside the standard work hours. This position may be required to be available for additional hours in response to peaks in workloads and changes in department needs. The standard work environment varies depending on assignment but is typically either primarily in an office setting or out in the field. The City does not offer hybrid or remote work.(This class specification represents only the core areas of responsibilities; specific position assignments will vary depending on the needs of the Department.)
Plans coordinates and supervises cultural and/or recreation service programs; provides marketing and community outreach; prepares marketing and program materials; schedules and trains staff and other program resources; may assist in providing program instruction for participants and/or recruitment and coordination of program volunteers.
Provides oversight and evaluation of assigned program and events; assesses program needs and services provided; makes recommendations and implements changes and additions to program/service offerings.
Serves as a representative and liaison with the public and related community groups and organizations and provides program information and support; responds to concerns and resolves issues; collaborates to provide quality services and for the creation and improvement of programs that benefit the community.
Participates in the development of assigned program budget; monitors and tracks expenditures budget allocation and/or grant funding and compliance with applicable regulations; prepares related reports.
Monitors and maintains supplies and program materials inventory; researches sources for materials and supplies and initiates purchases; maintains files records and program documentation.
Performs other duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
EDUCATION:
Bachelors degree in parks and recreation human services business or public administration or related field
EXPERIENCE:
One (1) year of professional recreational programming or human services experience
LICENSING/CERTIFICATIONS:
Valid California Class C Drivers License with a satisfactory driving record may be required depending on the position
First Aid & CPR Certification required within 4 months of employment

NOTE:For most positions the City of Oxnard relies on office automation (Microsoft Office/Google) and web-based enabled tools therefore candidates must be proficient and comfortable with computer use to perform functions associated with on-going work.
Regular and reliable attendance effective communication skills and development of effective working relationships are requirements of all positions.
Employees are required to participate in the Citys direct deposit plan and are paid on a bi-weekly basis.
This position requires a 12 month probationary period.
