JOB DESCRIPTION: Assistant High School Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Valid Kentucky Teaching and Secondary Principal Certificate.
- Minimum of three (3) years teaching experience M/S or H/S preferred.
- Experience as department chairman or other administrative experience desired.
REPORTS TO: High School Principal
JOB GOALS: To relieve the principal of such impediments thus providing optimum time for the principals foremost responsibility of direct supervision of the instructional program of the school; and to support the Mission Statement of the Estill County School System.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Assists the principal in developing and implementing School Consolidated Plan resulting in measurable improvement in student performance results.
- Assists the principal in daily administration of the school.
- Maintains an up-to-date inventory of all equipment. Assumes responsibility to submit such periodic updates and a full annual inventory report to the Administrative Director.
- Assumes primary responsibility for enforcing the uniform code of conduct from Board policy and school rules for student conduct.
- Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance and works with the district Director of Pupil Personnel on investigative follow-up actions.
- In conjunction with the district safety and disaster coordinators conducts safety inspections and fire and disaster drills. Maintains school records and files all reports as may be required pursuant to safety inspections fire and disaster drills.
- Assists the principal in evaluating the job performance of specified certified/classified staff including conducting teacher goal conferences classroom visits and post observation conferences as assigned by the principal and in accordance with Board policy.
- Coordinates student/athletic insurance program.
- Meets and serves with parent faculty and student groups as needed to advance school and district goals.
- Performs such record keeping functions as the principal may direct.
- Responsible for overall direction of daily cafeteria supervision.
- Directs school textbook/student fee procedures pursuant to Board policy and files district reports.
- Responsible for overall direction of Saturday School/Detention.
- Coordinates and assures compliance with Board policy procurement of furniture/equipment pursuant to approved budget appropriations.
- Coordinates non-athletic extra-curricular activities.
- Assumes responsibility as chief administrator for the school in the absence of the principal.
- Supervises the maintenance and operation of the school plant equipment and supplies.
- Coordinates all academic competition.
- Responsible for maintenance of school grounds in conjunction with the district maintenance department.
- Responsible for teacher homeroom and extra duty assignments.
- Coordinates annual revision of student handbook.
- Maintains confidentiality of students and/or staff.
- Performs other tasks and assumes other responsibilities as the principal may assign.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Days and salary pursuant to district salary schedules.
