We are currently seeking:
A deputy court clerk to join our team and perform a variety of clerical functions on behalf of the Citys Municipal Court. In this role you will provide customer service to the public; respond to inquiries regarding court related matters; receive and process Court fees and fines; process Court documentation; update and maintain Court records; and perform other duties relative to area of assignment as required.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing customer service to the public in person and via telephone; staffing the public counter.
- Responding to routine public inquiries; providing information regarding Court policies procedures and/or case related matters.
- Processing monies received for Court fines and fees balancing and maintaining assigned cash drawer.
- Entering updating and researching data in the Courts automated Records Management System.
- Preparing processing scanning indexing and filing various types of Court documentation.
- Initiating arrests in relation to outstanding City and County warrants.
- Researching issuing signing out and clearing warrants as assigned.
- Providing assistance in maintaining the Courts calendars records and/or filing systems.
- Receiving requests for information pertaining to background checks as assigned.
- Compiling data and assisting in preparing/generating Court reports as required.
- Assigning community service and/or driving safety alcohol tobacco parenting life skills and bad check classes to defendants; updating and maintaining related records.
- Participating in the Courts collections activities; monitoring the status of cases; updating collection records.
- Providing assistance in booking defendants and processing related documentation as required.
- Performing other specialized duties relative to area of assignment as assigned or required.
- Regular and timely attendance is required.

Requirements and skills:
- Conducting a variety of general clerical duties in support of Municipal Court operations.
- Responding to routine inquiries and providing customer service to the public.
- Processing Court fees/fines and balancing assigned cash drawer.
- Performing accurate data entry and updating/maintaining Court records.
- Preparing processing and maintaining various types of Court documentation.
- Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with other staff City departments law enforcement personnel outside agencies and the general public.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and Experience:
High School Diploma or equivalent; and six months general office experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:
- A valid Texas driver license with a good driving record is required.
- Applicants with an out-of-state driver license must provide an original certified driving record from the state of driving licensure.
- Certification as a Certified Municipal Court Clerk is desirable.
- Typing test required.
Physical Demands / Work Environment:
- Work is performed in a standard office environment and at the public counter.
- Subject to sitting for extended periods of time standing walking bending reaching and lifting of objects up to 20 pounds.
- Exposure to potentially irate members of the public and infectious diseases is involved.
