EDP Group entered the German market in 2022 and has since then been actively developing and expanding its portfolio of wind and solar projects. We are now seeking a highly skilled and motivated lawyer to join our German Legal team.

The candidate will provide legal support to the Business Unit (focused on onshore wind solar and battery storage) and assist with business development management compliance and reporting.

What you will do:

  • Provide independent legal consultation and support to the Business Unit and other teams on various legal matters related to project development construction and operation (wind solar battery storage). Perform all local legal work as well as specifically delegated substantive legal tasks.

  • Assist in developing templates for various contracts and prepare revise and negotiate legal contracts and documents (including for example NDAs PDAs supply agreements EPC and BOP contracts O&M project finance services agreements asset management agreements agency agreements general terms and conditions). Support contract negotiations and collaborate with the procurement team and other teams throughout the entire project development and construction process. Work closely with the procurement team and legal procurement team to explain the specifics of German law and adapt group standards to German law.

  • Provide legal advice in legal-administrative proceedings for the development of the renewable energy projects and assist the Business Unit in the approval process (including communication with the authorities).

  • Support the securing of property: preparation of all legal documentation (including drafting property usage agreements and property acquisition agreements) assist the Business Unit in negotiations with landowners check the legal title of the property resolve disputes and handle appeals.

  • Responsible for the legal defence and coordination of civil criminal and contentious-administrative proceedings when necessary with the support of external advisors.

  • Draft and prepare various corporate documentation.

  • Coordinate with internal and external clients external law firms legal experts Notary for the execution of legal documents.

  • M&A transactions: Support the M&A team and the corporate bodies in coordination with the Corporate Legal Department during the M&A transactions. This includes support in negotiating SPAs or APAs and involvement in the Due Diligence process with a focus on the acquisition of projects in an early development stage.

  • Supporting the Client Solution team in developing and implementing new projects.

  • Compliance: Provide legal assistance to ensure the compliance with legal duties (such as regulatory issues) addressing challenging internal processes and adapting to the General Data Protection Regulation.

  • Prepare legal and miscellaneous correspondence.

  • Monitor and follow up on the regulatory framework at national regional and local levels in matters affecting the company. Analyse new law projects and collaborate in proposals for amendments. Maintain a database with main key local laws and regulations.

What we are looking for:

ACADEMIC REQUIREMENTS:

  • Fully qualified lawyer (Volljurist/in) (m/f/d) with above-average exam results.
  • Languages: excellent communication skills in German and English (both written and spoken). Additionally Spanish will be a plus (but is not a prerequisite).

REQUIRED PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

  • 3 to 5 years of relevant professional experience in the Renewable Energy sector (either in the legal department of a company or in a law firm).
  • Profound knowledge and understanding of renewable energy projects (project development implementation and operation).

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

  • Good understanding of economic contexts and German market.
  • Eagerness and ability to work in an international environment.
  • Confident demeanor and negotiation skills.
  • Commitment a hands-on mentality and a high level of responsibility.
  • Problem-solving and analytical skills pragmatic approach.
  • Organizational skills ability to manage priorities and flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs; ability to oversee multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong teamwork skills and work ethic.
  • Proficiency in MS Office.
