REPORTS TO: NPSSSupervisor
POSITION SUMMARY: The Columbus City SchoolDistrict is accepting applications for the position of NonpublicSchool Title I Instructional Support Coach. This role requires a wide range of skillsthat must be continuously cultivated through ongoing professional development. Thisrole requires the individual to provide supplementalreading or math instruction to CCS Title I students a minimum 40% ofthe time working directly with students and 60% of the time serving as aninstructional coach. The individual selected is responsible for ensuringlearning experiences are consistent with the mission statement andinstructional goals of the district. The process of selective interviewing willbe used.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Valid OhioTeaching certification/licensure
oElementary (1-8)Kindergarten-Elementary (K-8 Pre-K-3; K-3 4-9)
oExperience with andknowledge of state standards instructional pedagogy and strategies
Interpersonalskills necessary to communicate effectively and work productively with theadministrative team staff students parents and community
Three years ofsuccessful teaching experience
Demonstratedability to handle challenging situations in a tactful courteous and respectfulmanner
Strong writtenand verbal communication skills including effective presentation skills
Demonstrateability to develop and maintain collegial cooperative relations with studentsparents community and administrative staff
Sophisticatedsense of how to use multiple data sources to diagnose and intervene to addressand improve student instructional needs
Strong skills inreading/literacy pedagogy content and strategies
May requireextended time for professional development
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Demonstrateknowledge and understanding of the teaching of readingand/or math child growth and development evidence-basedreading and/or math instructional practices and demonstrate ability toteach
Identify specificCCS Title I student needs and develop customizedprofessional development to build the capacity of teacherswho have CCS Title I students in their classrooms while creating aculture of collaborative support
Enroll incoursework or training and successfully complete assignments and fieldwork asrequired for the evidence-based Title I reading and/ormath program/strategies
Support the CCS Title I program
Provide resourcesand training opportunities for professional growth for classroomteachers who have CCS Title I students on evidence-based reading and/or mathpractices
Analyze andpromote the use of assessment data for instructional planning studentachievement and school improvement as well as use of the data to determinestudent selection and target the lowest performing students.
Provideinstructional guidance to Title I instructional assistantsand tutors
Promote thegrowth and development of teachers to improve student learning by providinginstructional coaching and non-evaluative feedback
Model effectiveresearch-based methodologies and practices
Integratetechnology within professional development
Maintain currentknowledge of best practices trends and new developments in reading and/or math
Provide reportsto principals and district personnel as scheduled and requested
Performs allother duties as assigned by the NPSS Supervisor thatare permissible under federal grant guidelines
Provide supplemental reading and/or math instruction to identifiedCCS Title I students 40% of the time working directly with students and60% of the time serving as an instructional coach.
