LOCATION: Newark NJ Hybrid. At least two days per week in the office with participation in local activities to produce multimedia content.

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION
The Communications Coordinator Immigrant Rights Program (IRP) will work with IRP staff to promote program vision and activities via media production outreach and education. The position will actively create content and engage on select networks on behalf of the Immigrant Rights Program. The Communications Coordinator IRP will help create materials manage social media as needed support community outreach and educational events and compile and track data related to the program.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Act as primary program liaison between IRP and the Central Office Communications Unit including attending key Communications meetings and relaying program activity information at these meetings and through other means as needed.
- Ensure coordination and partnership between regional program and Central Office communications staff with the preparation and distribution of all externally facing materials and promotions.
- Coordinate with the U.S. migration thematic director and other staff to ensure that IRP activities are connected to national-level work and campaigns
- Develop implement and manage communications strategy for AFSCs Immigrant Rights Program. This includes collaborating with Program Directors to develop messaging analyzing audiences pipeline development and creating important campaigns to support the program work.
- Develop and edit graphics videos and photos photo-stories and informational material for program activities to upload to the AFSC website and social media.
- Manage the programs social media. This includes managing plans and pilots to use social media ads posts and text to promote email subscriptions online activism events and fundraising. Collaborate with colleagues throughout the organization to strategize how social media efforts fit with other outreach and engagement.
- Identify and build relationships with social media influencers to craft messages and create content about the Immigrant Rights Programs s work and mission to reach broader and younger audiences community partners organization for communication collaboration and building and maintaining media and press relations.
- Produce emails including a monthly e-newsletter action alerts cultivations and outreach emails. Build emails in EveryAction AFSCs constituent relationship management system. Manage steps from planning to fulfillment for pipeline development.
- Copy edit and proofread a variety of materials. Examples include emails forms print publications and web pages.
- Plan coordinate or assist program directors and staff in writing and editing external communications. This includes but is not limited to writing articles op-eds press releases and support letters
- Maintain select Immigrant Rights Program pages on AFSCs website. Make updates to the program home page and other key landing pages (TRACES and Education portal). Curate assigned pages to maximize engagement. Post a wide variety of content online from articles and stories to action alerts reports and long form content of author pages and other elements.
- Update program Communications materials on AFSCs intranet Star Cafe.
- Collaborate with AFSC staff. This includes serving as liaison of all communications activities with the Central Office Communications staff and collaborating with program staff and interns to create materials needed for the program and support and participate in community events.
- Meet regularly with your supervisor.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in related field required.
- Minimum 3 years experience in a broad array of nonprofit communications or grassroots communications such as web pages blogs social media email video audio ads and magazines.
- Fluency in Spanish required.
- Experience in editing layout and design for social media graphics newsletter and public relations materials preferred.
- Experience producing and editing video and audio materials preferred.
- Experience with editing software as Audacity and video editing Publisher InDesign and Web publishing programs preferred.
- Ability to work evenings and/or weekends and to travel as required.
- Ability to work effectively independently and within a team environment.
- Experience with standard Microsoft Office and related technology.
- Must be capable of working under tight time constraints in a high-volume environment with multiple priorities.
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate with diverse staff.

The AFSC offers a competitive Total Rewards package.
