Curriculum and Instruction Teacher(CIT)

Split Position- Aborn Elementary School and Sewell Anderson Elementary School

Job Details

The Curriculum and Instruction Teacher(CIT)is a teacher leader whopromotes student and teachergrowth in learning and CIT works collaboratively with teachers to implement quality research instructionthatisdifferentiated for student withteacherstodevelop lessons integratingthe Standards CIT willfollow a coaching cycle withclassroom teachersbyplanningmodelingand CITmust possess knowledge of child growth and development and especially of characteristics of students/children in the age group assigned. CITs should beawareof current trends research and best practices related toelementary instruction.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary license in the specific subject area(s):Elementary 1-6
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university; Masters Degree preferred.
  • SEI Endorsement
  • Strong district lens regarding EL curriculum and equity
  • Knowledge of current education legislation/regulations
  • Ability to work effectively with teachers support staff and parents and advocate for children in order to effectively problem solve
  • Strong interpersonal communication and organizational skills and ability to work with all stakeholders
  • Experience in urban district/setting preferred
  • Ability to meet the expectations of the Massachusetts Standards and Indicators of Effective Teaching Practice

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Planning and implementing standards-based lesson planningwith clear objectives
  • Modeling and coachingeffective teaching strategies and techniques
  • Providing appropriate and effective learning experiences for students from a wide range of socioeconomic levels and cultural backgrounds
  • Usinga variety of instructional strategies appropriate for teaching students from diverse backgrounds with different learning styles and needs
  • Designing and demonstrating differentiated instruction to meet the needs of all students
  • Usinga variety offormativeassessments to accurately measure student progress toward mastery of grade-level standards and to modify further instruction
  • Workingwith teachersto implement district assessmentsandguide classroom instructional interventions based on data analysis
  • Assessinglevels of student achievement effectively analyze data and prescribe actionsfor improvement
  • Providing a motivating and stimulating safe andsupportive learning environment
  • Adapting lessons for individual small group and remedial instruction to meet the needs of identified students
  • Integrating technologyin the planning and delivery of instruction
  • Communicating orally and in writing with students parents and others
  • Workingcollaboratively and cooperatively with teachers in planning instruction to meet the needs of a diverse population of learners
  • Participatingin school-wide professional development activities
  • AttendingProfessional Learning Time meetings
  • Performing duties as requested by principals
  • Communicatinghigh standards and expectations for all student
