Global Engineering Services (GES) NA Ops Engineering is searching for an innovative and solutions-oriented engineering project leader to lead initiative of developing and delivering next generation world-class sortation and transportation systems. The Firm Engineering Team will support retrofit designs for first mile retrofits as well as controls & solutions development to be used for future projects.

Were looking to add high-impact engineers to our team. In this role you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high-quality cost-effective solutions for our fulfillment systems. Your projects will include retrofits for highly automated fulfillment centers and cross-dock facilities.
You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team works on hundreds of projects each year. You will be challenged; you will learn; you will work on high impact high visibility projects; you will grow.
This role requires up to 50% travel and availability to work from a corporate office when not traveling. Candidates should either live near or be willing to relocate within a reasonable commuting distance of the office. Relocation assistance may be provided.

Key job responsibilities
- Coordinate design and innovation efforts to develop optimal solutions for the fulfillment network through equipment specification material flow process design site layout and intellectual property considerations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to generate high-quality cost-effective solutions in very short periods of time.
- Simultaneously manage multiple projects and tasks while effectively influencing negotiating and communicating with internal and external business partners contractors and vendors.
- Effective communication skills ability to execute the vision detailed roadmap and specific technical solutions to make a compelling business case with senior executives.
- Ability to travel 50% globally to interact with internal and external business and technical leaders.

About the team
Firm Engineering owns mechanical firm design for First Mile retrofits Middle Mile POR and Retrofits designs. The pillar also provides electrical controls and software integration support across all First and Middle Mile building types.
- Bachelors Degree in Engineering Design or related field
- 3 years experience in a design related role
- Ability to understand and validate design changes requested or proposed.
- Ability to understand full system development life cycle working within broadly defined parameters including test plan execution and solution quality needs.
- Experience with complex automated material handling equipment packaging technologies and systems including robotics and high-speed manufacturing.
- Experience with process design based on Lean Principles.
- Experience in Capital project management
- Experience with concepts like system architecture optimization system dynamics system analysis statistical analysis reliability analysis and decision making.
- Experience using business/technical software like MS Excel MS Project and CAD software
- Masters Degree in Engineering Design or related field
- 4 years relevant experience

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $89400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
