Provides ongoing assessmentincluding the Brigance screening tool Big Day curriculum assessment ELAanecdotal records portfolios observations interviews with children andparents progress reports etc.
Provides opportunities forparents/families to become involved in the education of their children (familynights parent meetings opportunities to volunteer in the classroom attendfield trips serve as mentors to other parents etc.)
Family and Community Engagementand Outreach (Home Visits Parent Orientation Conferences etc.)
Communicates regularly withparents
Provides appropriate andconsistent classroom management including the posting of at least 3 simplerules children can understand and follow consistently. Reviews and models appropriate behavior dailyto help students understand the rules and the rationale for them.
Collaborates with InstructionalAssistants ECE Nurses ECE Social Workers and other building support staff asa team in providing a comprehensive early childhood program (education socialservices health services and parent involvement) for young children
Participates in ongoingprofessional development and keep all state licensing requirements up-to-date(first aid child abuse prevention communicable disease etc.)
Other duties/responsibilities asassigned
In addition to ECE Intervention Special duties the ECE itinerant teacher has the following additional duties:
Travels across the CCS catchment area to various locations to provide specially designed direct instruction to ECE students with disabilities while also offering advice resources and support to community providers teachers and families
Serves a caseload of 20 children in various locations (homes Head Start ECE Classrooms community providers/daycares hospitals etc.)
Engages with the above listed agencies to promote best practice and research based learning environments for the child by providing various supports (classroom and/or curriculum modifications adapted equipment sensory materials behavioral supports etc.)
Participates weekly as a member of the Preschool Intervention Assistance Team (PIAT) to determine need for further evaluation of children who attend screening
Participates in Eligibility Meetings as needed providing input and serving as the Special Education Teacher
Acts as General Education teacher as appropriate for coworkers IEP meetings
Completes all required assessments (ELA COSF Brigance IEP progress reports anecdotal records interviews with parents portfolios etc.)
Consults with related service personnel as needed and outlined on the IEP
Acts as a liaison with community agencies (i.e. Head Start The Childhood League Nationwide Childrens Hospital The Nisonger Center various community childcare providers etc) in areas where teacher serves students
Distributes materials to schools in designated itinerant area as needed
