Job Description

Marion County requires on-site work. Remote work is not available.

GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
Responsible for programming testing modifying configuring updating maintaining documenting and/or otherwise supporting basic/workgroup systems software.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Works under direct supervision of an IT Supervisor or Manager who assigns work establishes goals and reviews work for conformance to technical and department standards and compliance with department goals. Work will generally be performed under the direction of a higher-level analyst acting in a lead capacity.

SUPERVISION EXERCISED
Supervision of others is not a responsibility of this classification.

Typical Duties - Duties include but are not limited to the following

Software Development
Assists with development testing deployment and maintenance of custom software supporting departments and enterprise systems. Analyzes and fulfills requests for reports and queries from computing systems. Adheres to established software and information security policies procedures and standards. Retains and improves upon technical knowledge and developing trends as a means of keeping skills current.

Production Support
Participates in diagnosing system software problems and resolving issues and failures; assists team members in troubleshooting diagnosis and repair of application malfunctions. Responds to tickets assigned by lead; evaluates and resolves customer issues to minimize impact to business operations. Maintains accuracy of assigned entries on system services within the Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Monitors production programs for expected performance.

Application Support
Assists with ongoing administrative support for commercial-off-the-shelf custom developed or packaged applications to include: validating product updates; resolving problems experienced by the user community; assisting with systems integrations; maintaining and updating as applicable relevant client documentation and procedures; supports the users by resolving incidents and completing service requests.

End-User Support
Assists with trouble-shooting user issues across components that make up the system including installation data connections and backend computing. Supports the development of training documents for users trainers and support personnel.

Other Job Duties

  • Participates in meetings in-service training workshops etc. for the purpose of gathering information required to perform job functions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements for the Position

EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING
  1. Bachelors degree in computer systems; AND
  2. One year of responsible technical experience in systems analysis or related disciplines; OR
  3. Any satisfactory combination of work education training or experience relevant to the position as determined by Marion County.

PREFERENCES
Preference will be awarded to applicants with the following experience:
  • Visual Studio and/or C#
  • MS SQL SSRS Report Development
  • JavaScript HTML CSS
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
  1. T-SQL Oracle Database 19c
  2. jQuery HTML5 Twitter Bootstrap
  3. Software version control systems based on Git technology
NECESSARYSPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • The finalist for this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check including finger printing; however conviction of a crime may not necessarily disqualify an individual for this position.
  • This assignment is represented by a union.
  • This is a full-time position which iseligible for overtime.
  • Typical Work Schedule:Monday through Friday days with flexibility depending upon the needs of the department and program.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Basic knowledge of systems analysis design and testing methods; applications programming techniques; systems maintenance and security; application development tools; principles and practices of data communication; computer hardware and systems software in supporting application systems; database management systems principles and techniques; applicable computer programming languages; understand and respond to mapping requests from the public; read understand and work with a variety of mapping data computer mapping techniques mathematics statistics and spatial data analysis.

Skill and abilities to communicate effectively both orally and in writing; convey technical and complex information to persons not directly involved with data processing; assist in systems design and analysis; assist in the evaluation of system performance; code test and document applications; assist with planning and coordinating program efforts to achieve data processing requirements and objectives; digitize cartographic data implement data processing projects as directed; establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with vendors system users and other county personnel.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Sits; moves about the work area; bends forward; lifts pushes pulls and carries up to 50 lbs.; operates a keyboard; speaks clearly and audibly; reads a 12 pt. font; distinguishes colors and shades; sees using depth perception; and hears a normal level of speech.

PUBLIC SERVICE LOAN FORGIVENESS
Marion County is a qualifying public employer for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program. Through the Public Service Loan Forgiveness Program full-time employees working at the County may qualify for forgiveness of the remaining balance on Direct Loans after 120 qualifying monthly payments under a qualifying repayment plan. Questions about your loan eligibility should be directed to your loan servicer or the US Department of Education.

VISA SPONSORSHIP
Marion County does not offer VISA sponsorship. Within three days of hireyou will be required to complete the US Department of Homeland Securitys I-9 form confirming authorization to work in the United States. Marion County is an E-Verify employer and will use E-Verify to confirm that hires are authorized to work in the United States.

Preference will be awarded only if the applicant meets the minimum requirements of the position and attaches the required documentation at the time of application.

    • Certification that medical separation from active duty under honorable conditions will take place not later than 120 days after the submission of the certificate.
