Job Description

Job Title:Paediatric Occupational Therapist
Band: 6
Location:Romford Essex
Working Hours: 15 hours per week

We are currently seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Band 6 Paediatric Occupational Therapist to join our clients supportive childrens therapy team in Romford Essex. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced therapist to work with children and young people in a community setting supporting their development and independence. The role is available on a locum basis with an immediate start and offers competitive rates.

What will your responsibilities be

As a Paediatric Occupational Therapist you will be responsible for independently managing a caseload of children with a range of developmental and physical needs. You will carry out structured assessments develop and implement individualised treatment plans and work collaboratively with families schools and other professionals. You will also assess for and recommend specialist equipment and seating contribute to goal setting and outcome evaluation and support the development of the OT role within the multidisciplinary team. Supervision of junior staff or students may also be required.

Qualifications and Experiences:

  • Completion of RCOT-accredited BSc MSc or PGDip in Occupational Therapy Essential
  • HCPC registration Essential
  • Minimum of 2 years experience working autonomously with children Essential
  • Experience using standardised assessments and delivering specialised OT interventions Essential
  • Experience in goal setting outcome evaluation and managing a caseload Essential
  • Experience with specialist equipment and seating Desirable
  • Attendance at relevant forums or post-grad courses in paediatrics Desirable
  • Experience supervising students or junior staff Desirable

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of the needs of children with disabilities and their families Essential
  • Advanced clinical reasoning and planning skills Essential
  • Knowledge of relevant health social care and SEN legislation Essential
  • Understanding of specialist adaptive equipment and neurology Essential
  • Excellent communication and time management skills Essential
  • Ability to work in a diverse community and deliver culturally appropriate care Essential
  • Basic IT skills and ability to use clinical systems Essential
  • Engagement with paediatric OT special interest groups Desirable
