Williams College seeks a highly-motivated student-centered individual to work as an Associate Dean in the Office of the Dean of Students and Director of the Office of Student Life and Leadership a position designed to meet the Offices priority of providing holistic services to students. The Office of Student Life and Leadership is dedicated to empowering students to thrive by supporting students co-curricular experiences and leadership development at Williams through residential education and student involvement. Responsibilities:
Supervise seven professional staff: one assistant director of residential education one upperclass area coordinator two first-year area coordinators assistant director of student involvement director of the Chaplains Office and the financial and administrative coordinator
Oversee all residential life and education registered student organization (RSO) and Chaplains Office management and support programming functions and initiatives
Coordinate and facilitate the EphVentures Program
Provide mission and vision for the Office of Student Life and Leadership (aligning office objectives with institutional priorities) and assess the performance and impact of the work
Lead strategic planning and goal-setting initiatives to support the mission of the office
Provide strategic oversight for area budgets ensuring effective financial planning and resource allocation for student programming
Participate in regular one-on-ones with the Senior Associate Dean of Students periodic all-staff meetings and engage with other initiatives in the Dean of Students office as appropriate
Design implement and enforce residential policies and procedures in alignment with college standards promoting a safe and inclusive living environment
Provide guidance and oversight to the Area Coordinator responses to lower level student residence life conduct matters that result in educational meetings with students
Serve on the CARE team
Participate in the colleges after-hours on-call program
Some evening and weekend responsibilities are required
Qualifications:
Masters degree in student personnel higher education administration or related field preferred
At least 5 years of professional work experience; three years preferred in residence hall administration including experience as a live-in staff member
Experience supervising early career Residential life professionals preferred
Experience working with student organizations and/or activities preferred
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented organization
Comprehensive understanding of student development research and theories preferred
Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Experience with computer applications and social media platforms
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed
Demonstrated success in working with a broadly diverse student body
This position is based primarily on campus so staff working in the Office of Student Life and Leadership are permitted one day per week remote during the school year and up to two days per week remote during the summer months with approval for employees based in NY MA CT or VT; subject to review and revision as policy evolves.
This is a full-time year-round appointment reporting to the Senior Associate Dean of Students. Application review will begin on August 1st 2025 and will continue until the position is filled. Pay range is from $100000 to $115000 commensurate with experience.Please visit to apply.
