Job Description
- Reviews medication orders and evaluates appropriateness and completeness of orders with consideration given to the special needs and behaviors of the specific age group served.
- Verifies all prescriptions not directly received from the prescriber or physicians agent.
- Knowledge of total parenteral nutrition (TPN) kinetics IV medications sterile IV admixtures aseptic techniques therapeutic drug levels common laboratory values and advanced pharmaceutical calculations.
- Provide oversight of the safety; appropriateness and effectiveness of the pharmaceutical care provide to patients (consumers) as it relates to specialty products dispensed.
- Supervises and when required compounds intravenous and specialty pharmaceuticals in an aseptic fashion according to established State Board of Pharmacy Federal USP sterile guidelines and company policy.
- Knowledgeable of the proper use and handling of both sterile and hazardous medications. Compounds and handles sterile and hazardous medications in accordance with established guidelines
- Ensuring compliance with federal and state boards of pharmacy statutes and regulations.
- Ensuring strong & effective business relationships with management sales nursing and patient support services teams.
- Demonstrating a commitment to excellence through focusing on quality care and/or services.
- Providing clinical services such as drug information drug therapy monitoring prevention of drug interactions patient education medication reconciliation and staff in-services.
- Pharm D degree or Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy
- Licensed to practice as a pharmacist in AR active AR license in good standing
- 2 years experience in infusion pharmacy operations preferred
- IV/Sterile infusion experience desired
