About the Office of Commissioner Rodney Ellis
There are four precincts in Harris County. The four elected commissioners along with an elected county judge serve as members of Harris County Commissioners Court the administrative head of the countys government. Commissioner Rodney Ellis represents the constituents of Precinct One.
With approximately 1.17 million residents Harris County Precinct One is a diverse urban precinct that covers 363 square miles. Precinct Ones multi-racial multi-ethnic population is roughly 33 percent African American 38 percent Latino 21 percent Anglo 6 percent Asian and 2 percent other or multiple races. Precinct One stretches south to Brazoria County and reaches into eastern and northern sections of Harris County. The Precincts territory includes a large section of Downtown Houston including the Downtown Harris County Courthouse Complex Toyota Center Minute Maid Park and the BBVA Compass Stadium. Other notable landmarks include the 263-acre NRG Park Complex and the renowned Texas Medical Center. The Precinct is also the higher educational home to Houston Community College Rice University Texas Southern University the University of Houston and the University of St. Thomas. Precinct One manages more than 21 parks 10 community centers numerous hike-and-bike trails three maintenance service centers and several area offices all of which provide an array of services to Precinct One residents.

What you will do at Precinct One
Install and repair wiring electrical fixtures apparatus and control equipment at various Precinct One facilities. Participate in life safety compliance activities and assist in repairing and maintaining life safety systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Ensure safe and proper installation of lighting and other electrically operated devices
- Use hand tools and power tools to set up wiring and systems. Utilize ohmmeters voltmeters and ammeters for testing purposes. Install and connect wires to circuit breakers transformers outlets and fixtures.
- Inspect and test components of electrical systems including transformers transfer switches and switch gears. Maintain generators.
- Run computer cables connect computer jacks and plugs and test for adequate operation
- Operate trade equipment
- Other duties as assigned

What you will bring to Precinct One
Education:
High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
Experience:
Three (3) year experience in the electrical trade
Licensure:
Journey Man license
Knowledge Skills and Abilities:- Demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment
- Skilled at the maintenance and repair of current electrical systems and equipment
- Ability to operate aerial equipment.

General Information
Position Type:
- Full-time Regular
- This position will be required to work several evenings and a few weekend days per month depending on event scheduling (with time worked outside of regular office hours offset with the flexible work arrangement policy).
- This job operates in both an indoor and outdoor environment
- Exposure to various weather conditions temperature variations
- This role requires the ability to exert up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to 20 lbs. of force frequently and/or up to 10 lbs. of force constantly to move objects.
