  • Permanent full-time (35hours per week) opportunity
  • Office location Parramatta
  • Total Remuneration Package relative to experience and ranges from $223417 to $247520 inclusive of superannuation

Our Finance team is currently seeking to appoint a Director Financial Control and Reporting to support strong financial management of the Departments assets ensure compliance with financial controls build trusted relationships and provide expert advice on complex accounting matters.

About the Role

Lead a dedicated team in delivering accurate and timely financial reporting and audit support for the Department. Ensure all outputs align with Australian Accounting Standards and Treasury requirements supporting the DCCEEW portfolio in achieving excellence in financial governance. This role also oversees the implementation of strong internal controls and certification processes that meet Treasury and policy compliance standards.

  • Building trust through strong controls: Youve developed and improved internal controls that support reliable financial reporting and reduce risk including fraud prevention and policy compliance.
  • Communicating with impact: Youve presented financial insights and risks to senior leaders and committees offering clear solutions and fostering informed decision-making.
  • Collaborating and influencing: Youve worked closely with stakeholders to resolve financial and audit challenges and helped shape policies that reflect best practices.
  • Staying ahead of the curve: You keep up with changes in legislation and policy and use your knowledge to guide continuous improvement in financial and asset management frameworks.

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualification and membership of a recognised professional accounting body such as CPA Australia or Institute of Chartered Accountants in Australia.
  • Extensive knowledge of and experience in financial reporting public sector accounting and related controls and legislation. Sound knowledge of asset management and climate reporting and disclosures.
  • Have a sound understanding of the functions of Government Treasurers Directions and other mandates Government Sector Finance Act 2018 and the Departments policies and procedures.
