Overview

Implements programs to meet the educational and learning needs of Critical Care unit professional staff and orientees. Markets courses to providers around the Kansas City region. Assures Critical Care unit staff demonstrate and validate competency in unit-specific skills as well as hospital and department mandatory education requirements.

Because we value the safety of the patients and families we serve as well as the Childrens Mercy staff we want to let you know that the seasonal influenza vaccine is a condition of employment for all employees in our organization. New employees must be willing to be vaccinated if found non-immune to measles mumps rubella (MMR) and chicken pox (varicella) and/or without evidence of tetanus diphtheria acellular pertussis (Tdap) vaccination since 2005. If you are selected for this position you will be asked to supply your immunization records as proof of vaccination. If you and have any concerns about receiving these vaccines medical and/or religious exemptions can be further discussed with Human Resources.

Responsibilities

  • Meets the educational and informational needs of Childrens Mercy staff physicians students and community
  • Participates in the operational leadership of the department with the department director and medical director
  • Assist others to utilize evidence based practices in order to provide safe high quality care for patients and families

Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree and 5-7 years experience Experience may include Medical simulation other simulation modalities clinical experience and/or adult education
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - MO Registered Nurse Multistate License Missouri Licensed Respiratory Therapist MO required upon hire
  • One of the following: Licensed RN - Kansas Registered Nurse Multistate License Kansas Licensed Respiratory Therapist KS required upon hire
  • RN Compact license for all states besides KS and MO
  • RNs who reside in Missouri hold a Missouri Multi-State (Compact) License Current professional license in Missouri and Kansas Required 90 Days
  • RNs who reside in Kansas hold a Kansas Multi-State (Compact) License Current professional license in Missouri and Kansas Required 90 Days
  • RESP THER LIC KS Licensed Respiratory Therapist KS Current professional license in Missouri and Kansas Required 90 Days
  • RESP THER LIC MO Licensed Respiratory Therapist MO Current professional license in Missouri and Kansas Required 90 Days
  • Refer to Nursing and Advanced Practice Provider Licensure and Certification policy for required Life Support Certifications Required Upon Hire
  • PALS or NRP instructor within one year of hire Required 1 Year
  • Professional specialty certification Preferred
