ICS Milan is a thriving dynamic international school offering a rigorous and comprehensive curriculum across multiple educational programmes including IGCSE MYP and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IB DP). We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Visual Arts Teacher with a strong background in the IB DP curriculum. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about teaching and learning and thrives in a multicultural and collaborative school environment.
The ideal candidate will have strong drawing and painting skills as well as an ability to work in 3D. All teachers at ICS Milan are expected to effectively develop and deliver the curriculum to excellent standards.
Key Responsibilities:
oTeach high school Visual Arts courses as part of the IB Diploma Programme (IB DP) including Higher Level (HL) and Standard Level (SL) ensuring the delivery of engaging challenging and well-structured lessons;
oTeach classes in IGCSE and /or MYP ( dependent on experience);
oExpand the students use of individual and collaborative strategies to generate concepts and ideas;
oDevelop and implement lesson plans that align with the IB DP curriculum and promote critical thinking problem-solving and inquiry-based learning;
oAssess students progress through formative and summative assessments providing timely and constructive feedback to encourage academic growth;
oFoster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment that caters to the diverse learning needs of students using differentiated teaching strategies;
oIncorporate new technologies and tools in the creative process;
oTeach students how to identify elements of art and design and apply them to create concepts;
oFurther the students knowledge of visual arts and media through art theory and history;
oDevelop an aesthetic understanding and appreciation that allows students to make qualitative judgments about art;
oEnable students to create a functional portfolio of their art works;
oPlan coordinate and prepare art displays and exhibitions for the school and community;
oEvaluate each students performance on a continual basis and prepare evaluative student reports;
oEnsure the required standards of classroom management and student behaviors are met;
oEncourage a growth mindset and develop students passion for Art helping them build essential skills for their future academic and professional endeavours;
oCollaborate with colleagues in the Arts Department and across the school to share best practices and resources.
Education and Experience:
oBachelors degree in Fine Arts or equivalent;
oQualified teaching certificate/licensure appropriate for grade level and subject area;
oProven experience teaching IB DP Visual Arts (both Higher Level and Standard Level) or equivalent experience in international education;
oFamiliarity with the IGCSE and MYP curricula is an advantage;
oStrong understanding of the principles and practices of inquiry-based learning and assessment in the IB system;
oStrong foundation in classroom management.
