Job Description
Leonard Middle School seeks a dynamic and passionate Music Teacher to lead and develop a comprehensive music program that nurtures student talent fosters creativity and builds musical literacy. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching middle school students the ability to teach a wide range of instruments and musical genres and a commitment to inclusive and engaging Music Teacher will work with all grade levels (58) and support students with varying levels of musical background in a school equipped with a full array of instruments (brass woodwind percussion string keyboard and vocal). Key Responsibilities:Design and implement a standards-aligned developmentally appropriate music curriculum that includes general music instrumental instruction ensemble performance and music students in instrumental and vocal techniques music theory composition and and manage musical ensembles (e.g. band orchestra choir) and coordinate school performances concerts and community a welcoming and inclusive classroom environment where all students feel seen heard and able to student growth in collaboration discipline creativity and self-expression through student progress regularly and use data to differentiate instruction and support individual learning with colleagues and school leadership to integrate music into interdisciplinary learning experiences and school and inventory instruments and music supplies; ensure proper care and regularly with families and caregivers regarding student progress and upcoming in faculty meetings professional development and school-wide initiatives. Qualifications:Required:Bachelors degree in Music Education or related fieldValid Massachusetts educator license (Music all levels or 512)Demonstrated proficiency with a range of musical instruments and vocal instructionStrong classroom management and communication skillsCommitment to equitable teaching practices and culturally responsive pedagogyPreferred:Experience directing middle school ensemblesPiano and/or guitar proficiencyBilingual or multilingual candidates are strongly encouraged to apply Compensation and Benefits:Salary and benefits are in accordance with the Lawrence Teachers Union contract and based on experience and education level.
