This is a continuous recruitment and may close at any time without notice.

Examination Schedule:
Written exam dates will be announced five(5) business days prior to the examination.

Examinations:
Written Exam (100%):Will be conducted for the purpose of assessing the applicants knowledge of functions and duties of the Department of Agriculture and Measurement Standards; applicable laws rules and regulations; investigative and enforcement techniques; basic principles of agricultural biological chemical environmental and physical sciences; effective public relations; and agricultural products of Kern County and other related topics.

Applicants must attain at least a 70% score on each phase of the examination process.

Minimum Qualifications / Employment Standards:
Bachelors degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university in a major that meets the minimum qualifications for County Agricultural Inspector/Biologist or County Weights and Measures Inspector license examinations.

AND
Inspector I must obtain one (1) license within twelve (12) months of initial appointment. Failure to obtain the license will result in termination.

Inspector II: requires any one (1) license.

Inspector III: requires any five (5) licenses.

Senior Inspector: requires all eight (8) licenses.

REQUIRED AGRICULTURAL BIOLOGIST/WEIGHTS AND MEASURES INSPECTOR LICENSES:
  • Pesticide Regulation
  • Investigation and Environmental Monitoring
  • Integrated Pest Management
  • Commodity Regulation
  • Pest Prevention and Plant Regulation
  • Weight Verification
  • Measurement Verification
  • Transaction and Product Verification
Possession of a valid Class C California Drivers License.
A Class A or Class B California Drivers license may be required depending upon assignment.
