Description

The Grants Managers primary responsibility is to oversee Outside Ins grants for Youth Services General Operating Clinic and Health Services and /or Behavioral Health Services including funder relations proposal research development and submission processes project management and tracking and reporting program outcomes.

The Grants Manager is responsible for relationship management of key funders and driving long-term grants strategy for the agency. This role requires an understanding of social and health issues impacting people experiencing homelessness and poverty with particular consideration for the interplay between housing status and other factors including race immigration status and gender identity.

The Grants Manager will lead the development of detailed complex and compelling narratives and budgets supported by trusted research and data and be able to describe the impact of interventions delivered by the agency. The Grants Manager will be expected to coordinate and collaborate effectively with staff at all levels across departments and maintain strong working relationships with funders.
Essential Duties

  • Collaborate with Development department staff to ensure that the organizational grants ecosystem continues to grow and build cohesively and effectively
  • Lead grants strategy and manage a grants portfolio of government and private funders ensuring processes and procedures are in place to consistently and successfully secure revenue for a variety of programs and services
  • Research and evaluate new Requests for Proposal (RFPs) and funders; facilitate and participate in agency-wide discussion to present new and sustaining funding opportunities and use the agencys equity and sustainability model determine the best opportunities for Outside In to pursue while ensuring alignment with values strategic direction and current needs
  • Write letters of inquiry and competitive proposal narratives that may include letters of support evaluation plans logic models associated budgets and other request concepts in collaboration with team members
  • Manage the proposal development and writing process to include collaborating with fiscal and program teams in the creation of budgets and keeping the team of Subject Matter Experts/Writers engaged in the process
  • Cultivate and manage relationships with federal state and local funders including government agencies and foundations that award grants of ideally$100000 or more
  • Apply Outside Ins equity lens to proposals consideration development and management to ensure alignment of values equity priorities and goals
  • Develop reports and dashboards that aid leadership in analyzing the agencys grants portfolio in general and to understand future revenue projections and risks
  • In collaboration with leadership and programmatic staff write grant reports to funders
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records in Raisers Edge (RE)/NXT including deadlines funder contacts and proposal and award information
  • Support and offer training opportunities for program staff to learn about grant writing and grants management
  • Build relationships across the organization to offer more focused support to building funding for programmatic needs and desired program innovation and implementation

  • Ability to create narratives designed to educate external audiences on social/systemic issues how inequity is embedded in those issues and how Outside Ins interventions/programs/staff work to address them
  • Ability to examine the macro and micro levels of how grants impact programmatic success as well as the agencys long-term health
  • Skills in MS Word MS Teams Excel Raisers Edge/NXT Outlook and PowerPoint

Knowledge& Experience

  • Knowledge of technical grant writing concepts and ability to apply to proposal development and writing
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • Federally Qualified Health Centers (FQHCs)/Health Care Delivery System
    • Homelessness and Housing
    • Behavioral Health and Substance Use Treatment
    • Gender-Affirming and Gender-Expansive Services and Health Care
    • Education and Employment Services
  • Knowledge of and demonstrated commitment to social justice issues including housing justice health equity harm reduction racial justice gender justice disability justice reproductive justice and immigrant justice
  • Knowledge of and commitment to engaging in and cocreating an anti-racist culture at Outside In
  • Awareness of best practices in equitable storytelling including Asset Framing and the tenets of Community Centric Fundraising
  • Knowledge of accessing data resources including U.S. Census and UDS Mapper

Education and Experience

  • : Proof of COVID-19 vaccination status or approved medical or religious exception on file
  • Preferred: A minimum of three years of progressive experience and success in securing competitive strategic and sustainable funding
  • Preferred: Demonstrated ability and experience in program development and project managing a portfolio of competitive grants

A Note about Equity

Working Conditions

This job is eligible for remote or hybrid work after a period of familiarity with on-site teams. If working onsite there is a standard office environment this job will be working in.

Physical Requirements

This job requires operating and communicating via phone computer and other pieces of office equipment. Moving inside the building and among surrounding sites is expected. Sporadically moves boxes and/or items weighing up to 10 pounds.
